Five days of 'The Runaways'! Kristen Stewart on Joan Jett -- and the whole blogger problem

Stewart

Joan Jett has a great admirer in Kristen Stewart. The young actress told me about her respect for the rocker Sunday at the Sundance Film Festival.

"My biggest problem is bloggers," Stewart said of her modern struggles, compared to Jett's burden of breaking into the boys club of rock music.

For being a girl playing guitar, "Joan had bottles thrown at her," Stewart marveled.

"What she has now is a thick, developed armor," Stewart said. "She's in tune with herself, honest, and has a self-preservation thing."

And about those pesky bloggers, perpetuating a maybe-romance with "Twilight" leading man Robert Pattinson?

"Hearsay is sometimes really awesome and sometimes really destructive," she said. "I don't care."

Dakota Fanning, Gabourey Sidibe are V cover girls

Fanning sidibe

It's been a breakout year for Dakota Fanning and Gabourey Sidibe, young talents with major presence in film for their roles in "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" and "Precious," respectively.

V magazine took note and transformed them into glam cover models for its latest issue, shot by Parisian photography team Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin.

Sidibe, who got the siren treatment with flowing locks and glossy lips, spoke about role model and "Precious" costar Mo'Nique: "She's a plus-sized woman who didn’t care about one day being skinny.

"All my life I’ve been hearing that I’ll never amount to anything until I am skinny," Sidibe said. "And she disapproved everything that everyone has ever told me."

As for Fanning -- the grown-up child star says don't be surprised if she's not squeaky-clean forever ...

'The Runaways' trailer: Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning rock it like Joan Jett, fangs-free

Alas, Kristen Stewart emerges from her ongoing lunar cycles to try her hand at a role that's not Bella Swan.

The trailer for "The Runaways," Cherie Currie's story of Joan Jett and the Runaways that had Stewart shaggy-haired for months, has finally hit the Internet.

In the clip, she and fellow "Twilight Saga" star Dakota Fanning (who costars as the Runaways' Currie) chronicle the rise of Jett and the band to rock stardom in the '70s. The clip sees sweat drenching, guitars strumming, cars peeling out of strip mall parking lots rebelliously — and that hair just keeps happening

[For the record, 6:01 p.m., Dec. 17, 2009: An earlier version of this post incorrectly referred to "The Runaways" a Joan Jett biopic; it is a history of the band the Runaways, which included Jett, based on the book "Neon Angel" by fellow band member Currie. It incorrectly placed the movie in the '80s; it chronicles the Runaways in the late '70s. Thanks to commenter "me" for making sure we get it right.]

'New Moon' star Dakota Fanning probably kicks Rachel Zoe's butt at Nintendo DS

ZoedakOur friends over at All the Rage report that actress Dakota Fanning and stylist Rachel Zoe recently got together at the Madison boutique on Third Street in L.A. -- to play Nintendo DS.

Why Nintendo? Because there's a new game out, Style Savvy, in which players get to operate a perfectly fabulous clothing boutique.

Why Rachel? She's been known to suggest a perfectly fabulous outfit or two for her celebrity clientele.

And why Dakota? Well, despite a resume that stretches around the block, the elder Fanning prodigy is reportedly still a child, and isn't that what These Kids Today do, sit around and do nothing but play video games?

Said Dakota, the "New Moon" newbie who is also a high school cheerleader and was just named a homecoming princess: "Usually video games are more action packed -- more masculine -- so, no. I’m really girly; this is the first time I’m interested."

Don't be alarmed by that ripping sound.

We'll get the space-time continuum fixed up for ya right quick.
