Gwyneth Paltrow cures your hangover and advises Courtney Love

Gwyneth Paltrow offers hangover tips

Gwyneth Paltrow is all about sharing the wisdom, be it ways for pal Courtney Love to have an awesome 2012 or for the masses to nurse the hangover from the 2011 New Year's Eve celebration.

Just before the weekend festivities kicked off, Paltrow's weekly lifestyle newsletter Goop offered Gwyneth's various solutions to get rid of that champagne-induced headache. Such as ...

Courtney Love and Gwyneth Paltrow spend New Year's Eve togetherQuick fixes: Gwyn recommends some plop-plop-fizz-fizz in the form of "Resolve," a pharmacist-recommended Alka-Seltzer-like product, and "Mercy," a health elixir that Paltrow disclosed she's an investor in. Check our their contents here.

First-World Fix: In a move that got her a bit of criticism, Gwyneth recommended a sort of, say, icy-hot hangover cure called Hydrotherapy. It only really requires a well-appointed bathtub, steam room and shower, and a lot of walking back and forth.

"Start in a hot, dry room and then move into an even warmer steam room. Then splash yourself with cold water (or even dunk in cold pool or under a cold shower)," Paltrow wrote, "follow it with a full body scrubdown, which is typically followed by a massage. At the end you'll be sent to a cool room to relax and cool down."

Sure, some thought the suggestion was a bit highbrow, but we know one lady who isn't complaining -- Love. The rocker got all kinds of fancy advice without having to subscribe to the newsletter.

"Getting the best advise for the new years from a true friend, love you @GwynethPaltrow @Goop," Love tweeted on New Year's Eve. And what a Dec. 31 -- the Goop newsletter indicated that Paltrow was headed to Abu Dhabi for the ball drop.

Inside Courtney Love's problematic, pretty NYC townhouse [Photos]

Courtney Love faces eviction

Courtney Love has a New York City townhouse, and if you dared us to close our eyes and imagine it, here's what we wouldn't picture: a muted, powder-blue monument to art, prayer, reflection and chic housewares.

But that's precisely what's found in the early 19th century pile of bricks that Love rents, at least for now --  a four-story Manhattan joint she occupies in addition to properties in Britain and Los Angeles

Jane Pratt, editor of xoJane.com, got an exclusive look at a place that has a little more than rock royalty buzzing around it: Love is facing eviction, embroiled in allegations of unpaid rent and (first-world problem alert) violations of the design specifications of her rental agreement.

PHOTOS: Inside Courtney Love's rental Manhattan townhouse

Courtney LoveIt all started with a summertime fire in one of the fourth-floor bedrooms, reportedly started by a candle that sat too close to some curtains. That red-flagged the building's owner and her legal team, and upon inspection of the burn damage they reportedly found unauthorized alterations to the property.

"Courtney has wallpapered and painted a large portion of the property without my consent ...," owner Donna Lyon told the New York Post. "The walls that had been hand-painted and glazed were ruined, covered in damask wallpaper and ice-blue paint."

(The $8-million place had been decorated by previous owner, designer Steven Gambrel, and Lyon estimates it'll cost up to a hundred grand to put things as they were. Here's a picture of the sitting room's previous incarnation.)

And then there's a matter of $54,000 in back rent.

While Love sorts out some of that abstract messiness, the current design of the townhouse remains rather stunning and eclectic.

Art from the likes of Damien Hirst is installed over antique fireplaces. Photographs of Love and Kurt Cobain's daughter, France Bean Cobain, are ubiquitous (one series by the late Herb Ritts). And the furniture!

"Majorelle, Ruhlman, Chippendale, Willow china, Tiffany china," her real estate agent Jared Seligman said, listing off the treasures.

Don't let our surprised tone suggest we question Love's taste -- she's underrated as a red carpet presence and knowledgeable when it comes to lifestyle. Perhaps we're more struck by the casual elegance of her pad, given her oft-bold personality.

Consider her desk: crystal vase, a schmaltzy tile frame with a picture of Kurt and Frances Bean, prim notes on index cards and an assortment perfume bottles.

What's not to Love?

Courtney Love feels burnt by Kelly Osbourne drug diss

Kellyosbournecourtneylove While Kelly Osbourne gets her bread and butter critiquing celebrity fashion, one bold name is issuing her own violation. Courtney Love has it out for Ozzy and Sharon's spawn.

Osbourne now joins the laundry list of folks to incur the wrath of Love via social media -- all over a cutting remark the rock daughter made on E!'s "Fashion Police," hosted by Joan Rivers.

The sartorial panelist made a dig that Love was a "crackhead," to which the late Kurt Cobain's onetime love responded in a video blog.

"The answer is '05," a stung Love said of how long she's been clean, and that Osbourne is fully aware she does not allow drugs in her home.

Furthermore, Love said that she saved Osbourne's life more than once during Osbourne's own bout with addiction.

"I've saved her life twice ... physically, CPR, you know, putting things into her boobs, whatever. [She was on] Oxycontin and coke, foaming at the mouth," Love said.

Watch Love's full video here.(Warning: Video includes some strong language.) We expect further tweets and video posts from both stars. Meanwhile, tell us your thoughts on Internet chatter in comments.

Courtney Love plus Britney Spears equals Lady Gaga?

Gaga-split

Lady Gaga played Staples Center in Los Angeles on Wednesday, and we couldn't help but be reminded of two other lady singers who've dominated headlines in the past.

Do you see it?

Gaga, incidentally, is still in Los Angeles for another show Thursday night. Please, share your thoughts in comments.

Courtney Love addresses sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll

Courtney-love Courtney Love has a new album out, and she also has all the bases covered -- all in less than a week!

She's got the sex -- she told Howard Stern on Wednesday morning that she'd done the nasty with Gavin Rossdale. While he was already with Gwen Stefani. For about eight months. And of course Gwen knows!

She's got the drugs -- she told David Letterman on Tuesday night that she did a whole lot of cocaine for a whole lot of years, and that's how she wound up on his desk in 2004, topless on national TV. And of course she's sober now!

She's got the rock 'n' roll -- or does she? Her ex Billy Corgan accused her Monday of not being able to stand on her own as a songwriter, and the Twitter spew just went downhill from there. And of course she's not getting involved!

Wow. Just wow.

And -- wait for it -- of course she could help Lindsay Lohan

Again, wow.

Courtney Love cleans up for Las Vegas album launch

Courtney Love TAO red carpetCourtney Love and "demure" don't seem like frequent friends, especially should the two meet in Sin City.

But that's just how Miss Love showed up at Las Vegas' Venetian Hotel & Casino over the weekend, where she hit club Tao on Saturday to celebrate the latest release from her band Hole.

Dressed in a black Balenciaga number, Love walked the carpet with reading glasses in hand, chatting up the record, "Nobody's Daughter."

We're told the frequent tweeter sipped only Pellegrino and snacked on cake before surprising the crowd with a spontaneous acoustic set.

With her guitarist Mico, Love belted out "Pacific Coast Highway" and "Someone Else's Bed."

PREACH IT! Who'll be up next on 'American Idol' -- after the break? (The break with Simon Cowell, that is.)

Idol simon Whether Howard Stern really is joining the increasingly tired "American Idol" franchise has been the source of much speculation -- and self-important debunking -- in recent days, but it isn’t really the point.

Stern-gallery-refer Simon Cowell is leaving "American Idol," and we need a new unpleasant person. Nothing would give us greater joy than listing famous people we don’t like as possible replacement.

We’re going to do that right now.

But we won’t stop there. In our photo gallery of fine candidates (click the picture to launch it), we’ve also tossed in a few veterans who may not be obnoxious, but certainly would have something interesting to say at that judges’ table.

Courtney Love: I don't want Frances Bean to become Jamie Lynn Spears

Courtneyfrances Courtney Love made a Facebook list and checked it twice -- what she doesn't want for Christmas is daughter Frances Bean Cobain becoming the next Jamie Lynn Spears.

In a typo-laden social-media missive, Love addressed her loss of primary custody of the 17-year-old who is her child with rocker Kurt Cobain.

"I'd just prefer she not become Jaimie [sic] L Spears," Love said, "... this is a circus and it pains me cos i know she hates it."

The custody shuffle does not pain Cobain's relatives, including Kurt's mother, Wendy O'Connor, and uncle Charles Fradenburg.

O'Connor "has been trying to get custody of Frances for quite a few years," Fradenburg imparted to TMZ

O'Connor currently maintains temporary guardianship, a separate restraining order has been reportedly been filed to prevent Love from directly or indirectly contacting Frances Bean

Court proceedings to make that little road block permanent will go down Jan. 5. "There's not a whole lot I can do about it," Love wrote.
