'Cowboys & Aliens' brings its premiere to the fans at Comic-Con

Daniel Craig at "Cowboys & Aliens" premiere

Last year, Jon Favreau had to pull out the shackles to drag newbie Harrison Ford to Comic-Con International to present a sneak peek at "Cowboys & Aliens," a little movie they were doing with Daniel Craig.

This summer, no hardware was apparent (Ford even dragged along a date, wife Calista Flockhart) as  "Cowboys & Aliens" saw its world premiere Saturday in conjunction with the 2011 incarnation of the fan fest.

It was the first world premiere to be held in the event's 42 years — and there was a reason for that.

"That's where it all started, and I want to give back," Favreau told Hero Complex in June, referring to Comic-Con and the fans there. "They should have the opportunity to see it first."

Craig, Ford and Favreau were joined at the San Diego Civic Theatre by costars including Olivia Wilde, Ana de la Reguera, Sam Rockwell, Walton Goggins, Paul Dano, Abigail Spencer, Buck Taylor, Clancy Brown, Adam Beach and Noah Ringer, plus Ron Howard, Steven Spielberg and Brian Grazer, to name a few producer types.

Also spotted: Andy Serkis of "The Lord of the Rings" movies and Gillian Jacobs of "Community."

"These are the people we make movies for," Ford told Access Hollywood, "and coming here, to them, acknowledges their importance to us."

"Cowboys & Aliens" opens Friday. Click the pics for more photos from the premiere.

First Look: Kristen Stewart in 'Snow White and the Huntsman'

Kristen Stewart reveals a first look at her in "Snow White and The Huntsman"
With Kristen Stewart in the driver's seat, one forthcoming depiction of Snow White has nary a singing bird or yellow skirt in sight.

For the dark, fantasy-style retelling of the fable, Stewart and her filmmakers are setting us up for an all-out war -- as evidenced by the major armor she is rocking in a first look (above) from "Snow White and the Huntsman," released at Comic-Con this weekend.

"I’m very well-behaved, I take myself very seriously,” Stewart said of her character at a panel for the film, "...and she really likes apples."

Stewart has Charlize Theron as her nemesis and evil queen. At the fan-heavy convention, Theron described the mean monarch as a "serial killer." Stewart also has the able-bodied Chris Hemsworth in the role of Huntsman, the burly deep woods assassin tapped by Theron to cut out Stewart's heart.

The Huntsman defies his queen, and Stewart finds some time to nab eight dwarfs (Eddie Izzard and Ian McShane counted among them) and a prince in Sam Claflin.

What do you think of Stewart's Snow White look?

Justin Timberlake says no to superhero spandex (for now)

Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried

Justin Timberlake won't be climbing into spandex tights anytime soon -- at least when it comes to potentially playing a superhero.

Pause for sadsies. The singer-turned-actor appeared at San Diego's annual Comic-Con on Thursday with Amanda Seyfried, the two promoting their upcoming sci-fi thriller "In Time."

When asked if he'd consider taking on a major superhero franchise, as have fellow young thesps Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans and Ryan Reynolds, Timberlake sounded off about his anxiety around those kinds of roles.

"I’m scared … of the pressure of putting on the tights of a character that already exists," he told Hero Complex.

Have it your way, Justin. So we won't see you in tights. But as costar Mila Kunis tells it, JT's new flick  "Friends With Benefits" has plenty of "tushy."

Comic-Con: Kristen Stewart on mothering Renesmee in 'Breaking Dawn'

Kristen Stewart

After spending the first three "Twilight Saga" films fighting to be with her vampire beloved, Kristen Stewart's Bella Swan character confronts a new challenge in the two-part "Breaking Dawn" series conclusion: motherhood.

Plenty of ink has already been shed — and please stop reading now if you haven't read any of that ink and want to be surprised — on Swan's controversial conception, pregnancy and delivery of Renesmee with Robert Pattinson's Edward Cullen character, but Thursday at Comic-Con 2011, Stewart got specific about bringing it all to the big screen.

"We had Mackenzie Foy, who's an amazing little kid, an incredible kid, smarter than me," Stewart said of the actress playing her on-screen daughter.

Since the little darling is half-human, half-vampire, she ages rather quickly in the film, requiring several actors (and even a robot) to step in along the way.

"To see little Chucky from 'Child's Play' ... " Pattinson joked of an animatronic baby used for a scene in which Bella holds her offspring for the first time.

"It had hair, and it's a newborn baby," Stewart said. "I know that's in the book, and you can imagine how cool that would be."

For the ages between the Chucky stage and a fully realized Foy, some of the wee actors couldn't seem to get it right.

"There was one kid who was supposed to run to Billy Burke [who plays Bella's father, Charlie], but she kept running into a wall," director Bill Condon said. "She was so nervous."

We can see Twi-fever on the horizon: "Breaking Dawn" has landed at Comic-Con.

The vampire franchise and its stars, Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, descended on San Diego's annual comic convention Thursday for a panel discussion about the first part of the series' epic conclusion.

In a loose-fitting white shirt and black bra, Stewart was flanked by her male costars answering burning questions about fan-favorite plot points — like a gory birth scene featuring her and Pattinson.

"I think the birth scene...for a fantasy scene that has kind of a youngish audience, it goes very far," Pattinson said according to HitFix. The actor labels the scene "hardcore" but insists "there was no other way to do it."

Stewart seems in a reflective place about the films, ones that have catapulted the 21-year-old to stardom.

"I've been building up to these moments for four years. I was 17 when I started doing this movie," she said.

As for the standard behind-the-scenes fun facts, Pattinson dropped this gem about Stewart's downtime obsession: cooking shows.

"Kristen literally only watches the Cooking Channel. And especially on set, it's bizarre. She has a TV in her trailer, and it's always on. It's her only diva-ish behavior," said Pattinson.

"And you all reap the benefits," Stewart shot back.

'Amazing Spider-Man' trailer: Garfield clearly hit the gym [Video]

'The Amazing Spider-Man' trailer starring Andrew Garfield hits the web

Andrew Garfield's "The Amazing Spider-Man" trailer hit the Web on Wednesday with the brooding British actor creeping into the darker Spidey role -- and costume -- of Stan Lee's beloved comic book character.

Utters a svelte Garfield: "We all have secrets: The ones we keep and the ones that are kept from us."

Goodbye, Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst; hello, Andrew and Emma Stone! Watch the trailer below.

In the Marvel reboot, "The Social Network" star plays Peter Parker and Stone plays lady love Gwen Stacy. As a child, Peter is sent by his parents to live with his aunt and uncle, and quite a bit of out-of-place, who am I? soul-searching appears to ensue. And after a sneaky trip to a lab, he transforms into the web-slinging, building-leaping arachnid superhero we've come to know.

Hero Complex: Wall-to-wall Comic-Con 2011 coverage

"I related to Peter Parker so much because I felt like someone else inside," Garfield told Entertainment Weekly. "I loved the comic books and the animated TV series and I even dressed up as Spider-Man as a kid."

Director Marc Webb (how appropriate is his last name?!) seems to be following the same story line from the Sam Raimi-directed films, but with a darker tone.

"Ultimately what this movie is about is a kid who grows up looking for his father and finds himself. And that's a Spider-Man story we haven't seen before," Webb said.

Rhys Ifans will play the role of Doc Connors, a.k.a. the Lizard, one of Spider-Man's arch-enemies.

The film hits theaters July 3, 2012. Yes, nearly a full year from now. Thank you, Comic-Con.

Bruce Campbell to star in 'Burn Notice' prequel for USA

Burn-notice

USA Network is giving that army of Bruce Campbell fans some sugar, baby -- in the form of a TV movie prequel exploring the earlier, Navy SEAL life of his beer-loving, tropical-shirt-styling "Burn Notice" character Sam Axe.

Word out of Comic-Con has Campbell replying that USA had finally gotten its, um, act together. But he said it in a more Bruce Campbell sort of way, of course. The announcement was a surprise even to the parties involved, Hero Complex reports.

Those who need more Bruce can get it below -- rocking the world of Old Spice years ago, before Isaiah Mustafa ever considered taking his shirt off for the brand.

Robert Rodriguez: Give LiLo a break, he'll give you a taco

Robert-rodriguez Robert Rodriguez and his "Machete" star Danny Trejo stopped by the Wired Cafe on Thursday at Comic-Con, where the Ministry chatted with the pair about their latest film, Jessica Alba's evolution and a little-known actress named Lindsay Lohan.

Rodriguez launched his "Sin City" franchise at the annual comic book convention, so it's not his first fanboy rodeo. He, Trejo and and costar Michelle Rodriguez will take over a downtown San Diego parking lot on Thursday to personally pass out tacos and tequila and screen some new footage from the flick.

While "Machete" stars Alba and Lohan won't be present -- some for obvious reasons -- the director spoke highly of them.

Lohan is "fantastic in the movie, she did a great job and she's very professional. I really don't know what the big deal is when people say, 'Did you have any trouble with her?' " Rodriguez said.

Her character dons a nun's habit and wields a shiny pistol, but is Lohan tough enough to survive jail?

"She has the best attitude," Rodriguez said. "She'll be fine."

Trejo echoed the director's sentiments: "She's going to do a little time and get back off ...

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie headed to Comic-Con?

Brad-pitt-angelina-jolie-mega-mind

Hey, fanboys and girls -- could you handle power couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie invading your turf at Comic-Con 2010?

On July 22, the first day of programming for the annual comic book convention in San Diego, presentations will be made for upcoming movies that feature the actors.

A panel on Pitt's animated flick "Megamind" will be held starting at 10 a.m. that day in the San Diego Convention Center's famous Hall H, with attendance from cast members Will Ferrell and Tina Fey promised already.

Then at 1 p.m., Sony Pictures will offer a look at "Salt," which opens July 23 -- and the Comic-Con schedule is teasing that "some very special guests" will drop in.

Could this mean Pitt and Jolie will roam among the "Star Wars" impersonators and "Captain America" fans? Such an appearance certainly couldn't hurt as a last-minute call to the box office for "Salt" and to get the buzz ball rolling for the Nov. 5 release of "Megamind."

A Paramount rep can't confirm Pitt's attendance "at this time," and a "Salt"-related call to Sony was not immediately returned -- so feel free to draw your own conclusions, and voice them in comments below.
