'Glee' guys to host Teen Choice Awards; blogger screams like a little girl [polls]

Glee-guys

Can we have a few volunteers up here to help us elbow little miss Katy Perry out of the way? 'Cause the "Glee" guys — Chris Colfer, Kevin McHale, Cory Monteith and Mark Salling — have just been announced as her Teen Choice Awards co-hosts, the Wrap notes, and OMG the Ministry wants lots of room for the boys up there on that stage.

Nothing against Katy, of course. But she did have that big spotlight already for her performance at the MTV Movie Awards, so it's only fair that she share now, right? Plus "Glee" is nominated for 13 awards, so it's handy to have the guys around.

One wistful note — no matter what you see on "Glee," remember that not one of these Teen Choice hosts is actually a teen in real life.

The Teen Choice Awards are Aug. 9, and the Ministry will be reporting from the red carpet and beyond. So who's your fave? And is it kosher for an adult male or female to scream like a little girl? The polls are after the break.

At Outfest's opening night, Jane Lynch of 'Glee' savors a day of back-to-back honors

Paris-barclay-chris-colfer At Outfest's Opening Night Gala on Thursday, "Glee's" Jane Lynch was honored by a couple of spiffy presenters -- Chris Colfer and Paris Barclay -- who'd had a pretty good day themselves.

Roughly 15 hours before Sue Sylvester's nicer doppelganger received the Outfest Achievement Award, the two actors and "Glee" director Barclay learned they were Emmy nominees, thanks to Fox's breakout hit series.

That didn't stop the puckish presenters from dryly acknowledging that, as Colfer put it, "Tonight is all about Jane.... She's a breath of fresh air in a very polluted city."

Lynch returned the favor. She talked about meeting Barclay: "It was at an audition for a pilot several years ago, where he gave her simple instructions: "Please, just don't bore me."

(Two-time Emmy winner Barclay was nominated again this year for directing the series' not-boring "Wheels" episode, which had the glee club performing in wheelchairs to support Kevin McHale's character, Artie Abrams.)

"We found out we have many things in common ... ," the actress said. "We both love ...

Cause for 'Glee': TV academy honors 'television with a conscience'

The_Men_of_Glee-web The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, which in September brings you the glitz fest known as the Emmy Awards, quietly honored eight shows that represent "television with a conscience" at the Beverly Hills Hotel on Wednesday evening. But don't think the usual laws of Hollywood don't apply to those creators too -- they still have to look good.

That appeared to be news to Lt. Col. Michael Strobl, whose experiences as a volunteer military escort officer were dramatized in the HBO film "Taking Chance."

Strobl-web Introducing a table of wounded Marines before presenting the Television Academy Honor to the film's executive producers, Brad Krevoy and Cathy Wischner-Sola, Strobl said, "I just hope that none of them find out I was just back there getting makeup."

Oops.

This was the third annual installment of the academy's special awards, and this year's crop tackled issues including Alzheimer's disease, physical handicaps, doctor-assisted suicide, autism and the black market for painkillers, explored in Current TV's "The OxyContin Express." So the traffic got pretty busy up there on the podium.

As "Celebrity Apprentice" Holly Robinson-Peete was introducing the award for "Unlocking Autism," produced by Figure 8 Films for Discovery Health, she suddenly stopped. "The vice president is in front of my teleprompter," she said ...

Johnny Depp, sexiest man alive? It's sexy opinion time

Johnny People magazine has released its annual list of the 100 Sexiest Men Alive, with Johnny Depp taking the lead as THE sexiest man alive in 2009.

Others on People's list? Adam Lambert, Nick Cannon, Robert Downey Jr. and the hot trio of guys from "Glee" -- Matthew Morrison, Cory Monteith and Mark Salling

We're not at all disappointed with People's pick -- even with the crush we have on Mr. Schuster. What's not to love about pirates and boy bands? (Though, hey, what about Chris Colfer?)

But your mileage may vary -- so the Ministry's Division of Absolutely Accurate Online Statistics is conducting research.

All results are, of course, completely nonscientific. And that's why we love them.

MORE nonscientific online polls conducted by the Division of Absolutely Accurate Statistics:

Who's the worst celebrity influence on the planet? Nay, in the solar system!

If an artist such as Britney Spears lip-synchs in concert, what is the appropriate response?

If the Miss USA gay marriage question had been a bar brawl instead, who would you put in the angel costume?
