Chris Brown and Rihanna sending each other love tweets?

Chris Brown and Rihanna

Chris Brown and Rihanna, whose romance had a spectacularly violent and public flame-out in 2009, appear to be hooking up again -- at least on Twitter.

The singers sent a few public tweets Thursday that seemed to have very specific audiences.

At 4:06 p.m., Brown, who follows Rihanna on Twitter and vice-versa, tweeted, "Love U more than u know!" A minute later, Rihanna tweeted, "I'll always love u #1LOVE."

This isn't the first time the two parties, who have been separated by a court-mandated restraining order that requires Brown stay 50 yards away from Rihanna at all times, have shown signs of looking for a reunion.

On Dec. 15, Chris Brown's mother, Joyce Hawkins, tweeted, "HELLO LADY I MISS YOU AND LOVE YOU!!!!! YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!!!"

While that in itself isn't unusual (90% of "Mombreezy's" tweets involve love in some capacity) this one was matched a short time later by Rihanna, who tweeted, "Miss+Love u 2."

Brown and Rihanna's relationship came to a very public end when Brown was arrested on domestic assault charges after an incident with Rihanna, which left her with visible injuries on her face and body. Brown later pleaded guilty to a felony and accepted a plea deal of community service and five years' formal probation. Rihanna has since said she's still a Chris Brown fan.

Will the couple reunite? Not without a return visit to court. The judge's restraining order is in place until 2014.

Russell Brand files for divorce from Katy Perry

Russell Brand and Katy Perry are getting a divorce

Katy Perry and Russell Brand's missing wedding rings did mean something: Brand on Friday filed for divorce from Perry.

"Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage," Brand said in a statement. "I'll always adore her and I know we'll remain friends."

Brand filed in L.A., TMZ reported, posting documents that reveal the traditional California divorce dilemma, "irreconcilable differences."

Those differences were evidenced just before Christmas in an allegedly "massive" fight that, according to Us Weekly, might have been about Russell and his feelings about Perry's parents and their beliefs. The two spent the holidays apart, Russell in London and Katy in Kauai.

The two married in October 2010 with an elaborate ceremony in India, fending off a swarm of media attention ahead of the event. Reports at the time indicated they have no prenup. In recent TV interviews, both parties had downplayed talk of problems.

So much for poppin' out those babies. Sigh.

Sinead O'Connor explains 'wild ride' that scared 4th husband away

Sinead O'Connor

Sinead O'Connor has revealed a bit more about the wild Las Vegas drug hunt that contributed to the end of her 16-day marriage to substance-abuse counselor Barry Herridge.

The Irish singer on Monday announced the end of the relationship in a blog post that referred to "a wild ride" she took her husband on just hours after their marriage to find weed "for me wedding night as I don't drink." O'Connor explained, "My husband was enormously wounded and very badly effected by that experience."

So what exactly happened there?

O'Connor elaborated to the British tabloid the Sun: "We ended up in a cab in some place that was quite dangerous.... I wasn't scared — but he's a drugs counselor. What was I thinking?"

What was she thinking indeed. But the story got even better.

"Then I was handed a load of crack," O'Connor said. "Barry was very frightened — that kind of messed everything up a bit really."

Loads of crack on one's wedding night generally tends to complicate matters for anyone. Who can blame Herridge — who makes his living back in Dublin telling others to steer away from drugs — from wanting to run in the other direction?

O'Connor explained her feelings about the relationship in even more dramatic terms: "It felt like I was living in a coffin. It was going to be a coffin for both of us and I saw him crushed."

But don't worry: This whole episode has not gone without its lessons learned. O'Connor says she's not planning to get married ever again. She's not even planning to date anymore.

But will she ever announce a public search for sex on her blog again? Anything's possible.

Sinead O'Connor ends her marriage after 16 days

Sinead O'Connor

Sinead O'Connor is showing Kim Kardashian a thing or two when it comes to whirlwind marriages. The Irish singer tied the knot with her short-time boyfriend, Barry Herridge, on her 45th birthday earlier this month in Las Vegas -- and 16 days later, she and Herridge were calling it quits.

In a blog post on her official site, O'Connor announced the split ahead of an impending media leak of the info. "From the moment myself and my husband got together not long ago, there was intense pressure placed upon him by certain people in his life, not to be involved with me," she wrote Monday, 18 days after her Dec. 8 wedding.

"Within 3 hours of the ceremony being over the marriage was kyboshed by the behaviour of certain people in my husband's life," she continued.

But then O'Connor let slip some info more fascinating than anything else in the post: "And also by a bit of a wild ride i took us on looking for a bit of a smoke of weed for me wedding night as I don't drink. My husband was enormously wounded and very badly effected by that experience and also by the attitude of those close to him toward our marriage."

So Mr. Herridge, a youth substance-abuse counselor in Dublin, had friends and/or family who didn't approve of the woman he married. Fair enough; it happens. The only question is, what exactly happened during O'Connor's wild Vegas hunt for weed? How insane was it, and how could it possibly be enough to end a marriage?

Does this sound to anyone else like the setup for "The Hangover Part III"?

PHOTOS: Celebrity splits of 2011

"He is a wonderful man," O'Connor continued. "I love him very much. I'm sorry I'm not a more regular woman. I truly believe though it is painful to admit, we made a mistake rushing into getting married, for altruistic reasons, and weren't aware or prepared for the consequences on my husband's life and the lives of those close to him. He has been terribly unhappy and I have therefore ended the marriage. I think he is too nice to do so. And too nice to trap."

O'Connor wrote that the marriage lasted 16 days, ending on Christmas Eve. She and Herridge lived together for only seven days, she said.

She warns the media and her fans away from her former spouse and his family and begs that all scrutiny be reserved for her, since she's a public figure. "I'm fair game. He or his family are not."

PHOTOS: Celebrity weddings of 2011

This is a sad end to O'Connor's much-publicized search for love, which began in August with a blog post pleading for a man.

For her part, O'Connor is well aware of how this turn of events will be played in the media. She concluded, "so now u can all go ahead and have a great laugh, media wise, and be horrid if u desire to. But that's my record set straight."

Herridge was O'Connor's fourth husband.

Chaz Bono and Jennifer Elia have called off engagement, split up

Chaz-bono-engagement

Chaz Bono and Jennifer Elia have called off their engagement -- in fact, after six years together, they've called off their whole relationship.

"Thanks for your concern about our separation," the "Dancing With the Stars" contestant and transgender activist wrote Monday on Twitter. "I'm doing fine, and we remain on good terms with nothing but respect and affection 4 each other."

The couple had been engaged for two years, but a spotlight was trained on them recently before the Nov. 28 air date of the documentary "Being Chaz," which included a scene in which Bono, 42, had finally presented Elia with a diamond ring.

PHOTOS: Celebrity splits

"Being Chaz" was a follow-up to "Becoming Chaz," the Emmy-nominated documentary that followed the transgender process of the former Chastity Bono. Bono and Elia -- who has said she's bisexual -- had previously put off getting married until Bono's transgender process was completed.

The only child of Sonny Bono and Cher, who was declared a man in May 2010, lasted six weeks on the most recent "DWTS" cycle.

Though Elia stayed with Bono through "DWTS" and through the "Being Chaz" air date, we can't help but think of Paris Hilton, who confirmed that her relationship with Cy Waits had been kaput for a while, with that detail being kept (strategically?) mum until right after a drama-queen episode of "The World According to Paris" in which she'd slapped her beloved in the face.

Waits was "not used to this lifestyle, the media and being on a show," an E! News source said in explaining the reportedly mutual and amicable split. Elia had to handle those pressures as well, with the added challenge of helping her girlfriend become her boyfriend along the way.

That said, in Waits' defense, Elia wasn't called upon to hold any knife-wielding "fans" at gunpoint until the cops showed up.

Demi Moore in no rush to trade @mrskutcher? We can play that game

Demi Moore will stay @mrskutcher for now.

Demi Moore is just fine being @mrskutcher for now, people, and she doesn't particularly care if you have a problem with that.

Moore and estranged husband Ashton Kutcher have been a force on Twitter for years under the handles @aplusk (him) and @mrskutcher (duh), counting almost 8.8 million and 4.4 million followers, respectively. So naturally, the news of their pending divorce had at least a couple of folks pondering the fate of her very relationship-specific screen name.

The answer? Ms. Moore is not sweating it right now. "changing my twitter name isn't a top priority right now," Demi tweeted Wednesday. "sorry it bothers so many of u. should I not tweet until I do? does it really matter?"

Sorry? Really? Mmm-kay. We believe you.

So we will forget letting it bother us and instead will allow the conundrum to entertain us. Should Demi Moore morph to @exmrskutcher? @apluskminusdm? Just @demi (OK, that one's taken)?

Share your probably-way-better, keep-'em-clean ideas in comments -- we'll elevate top choices into the post after a while, for the enjoyment of all.

Katie Couric splits with much younger boyfriend, Brooks Perlin

Katie Couric

Katie Couric's much-discussed relationship with Brooks Perlin, an entrepreneur 17 years her junior, has come to an end.

Couric, who is 54, had been dating Perlin, 37, since the two met at a cancer research fundraising event in 2006.

Couric stepped down from the "CBS Evening News" anchor desk in May and will start her new syndicated daytime talk show, "Katie," in September. Perlin is the chief financial officer at Eco Supply Center, an environmentally friendly building-supplies distributor.

According the New York Post, the couple had been having trouble for months, with Couric even hinting at her relationship problems in an interview with People in May. She told the magazine, "I am in the process of figuring out the future, and so is he. I am really happy in my personal life ... but it is complicated."

Couric even laughed off the idea of what people were saying about the relationship. "I've been called all kinds of things. I've been 'cougared,' which was just obnoxious. But it’s good enough for Demi, right?"

Well, not quite. Demi Moore split from her much younger husband, Ashton Kutcher, last month.

But we shouldn't worry about Couric shuffling around her Manhattan home eating ice cream from tubs. She's keeping busy with her talk show and "The Year With Katie Couric" special, airing Thursday night on ABC. She'll be recapping the newsiest stories of the last year. Wonder if she'll include Ashton and Demi?

Celebrity breakups of 2011: How many can you name?

Arnold and Maria, Kat and Jesse, Kris and Kim, Demi and Ashton

Lots of celebrity couples broke up in 2011 ... how many can you remember? We shouldn't kick up our heels at evidence that the famous and well-funded are as human and fallible as ordinary folk. But it's pretty hard not to.

"Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world."

Yes, Ashton, yes it is.

Kutcher -- who allegedly spent his and Demi's sixth anniversary fooling around with a San Diego party receptionist -- was among those thinking deep, end-of-relationship thoughts as 2011 drew toward a close.

ScarJo had a tough 2011 on the personal front.  She had a tough 2010 too, splitting up with Ryan "Sexiest Man Alive" Reynolds. She followed that this year with a split from Sean "I'm 24 Years Older Than You" Penn. Topping it all off, photos of her bare backside and upper body, hacked from her phone, were trotted out all over the Internet. Those pictures weren't for 24 Years Older Than You, by the way; they were for then-husband Sexiest Man Alive.

Meanwhile, Kat Von D, whose upper body has been seen bare without the hassle of hacking, found herself planning a summer wedding, then later counting the number of alleged hook-ups by fiance Jesse James while they were together.

"Today I encountered the 19th girl to add to the list of people Jesse cheated on me with during this last year ..." the tattoo artist wrote in mid-November on Facebook.

Which is worse: someone cheating on you behind your back, or someone who doesn't back your behind? Kris Humphries allegedly said Kim Kardashian had a fat behind.

And you know where that couple landed -- the same place as all the other couples in our gallery: Splitsville.

Kris Humphries: Annul it, void it, just make it all go away

Kris Humphries wants an annulment

Kris Humphries is having a legal field day this week, parrying soon-to-be-ex-wife Kim Kardashian's divorce petition with a request for legal separation and an annulment instead -- and as of Friday he reportedly wants their prenup disappeared as well.

Humphries asked for an annulment of the marriage in a response filed Thursday in L.A. Superior Court. Kardashian filed for divorce on Oct. 31 after 72 days of wedded bliss or something. TMZ said Friday that the pro basketball player wants the annulment for religious reasons.

The annulment is being sought on the grounds of fraud, according to court documents. That sounds pretty nasty, but it's also a box that can be checked if it can't be alleged that one or the other party involved was already married, was too young to get married or was physically incapable of getting married at the time of, you know, getting married.

PHOTOS: Celebrity breakups of 2011

Of course, there are also the boxes alleging that someone wasn't of sound mind at the time of the wedding, or that someone was forced to say "I do." But there we are again, getting back into nasty territory. Plus the last two don't count if the parties lived together freely after getting hitched -- and of course, Kris and Kim's cohabitation was captured on camera for the sake of reality TV.

Oops.

Humphries wants the prenup voided not because of any his-and-hers property issues but rather, according to Radar Online, to nix what a source calls an "extensive" confidentiality clause.

"Kris wants to be able to talk about the situation without being sued," said a Radar source supposedly close to the situation. Apparently, the thinking is that if the marriage were annulled, it would be as if it never existed, so a prenup would become moot. Well, never existed except for the two-part TV special.

Kim, meanwhile, doesn't appear too worried about a judge buying that the marriage was contrived for the cameras. She's reportedly told friends that as a "marketing genius" along with mom Kris Jenner, there's no way she'd set herself up for the Kardashian brand bashing that has resulted from filing for divorce.

Also, the couple still have not yet determined an important element of their split: Who gets Bruce Willis? Oh wait -- that's a different divorce.

Kim Kardashian aims to rehab image with 'Kourtney & Kim'

KimkardashianStory
Kim Kardashian is ready for a little image rehab and she’s hoping “Kourtney & Kim Take New York” will help.

Sure, there were reports that Kim didn't want her divorce drama to play out on reality television, but what about all that footage of the couple before the split? Radar Online says, with full editorial control, she wants to edit the new season to her advantage and that the show will paint Kim as the “victim” and ex Kris Humphries as a “lazy and insensitive” villain.

In fact, a source tells the site that it was actually raw footage of the pair that convinced her to file for divorce in the first place. “The marriage was already under a tremendous amount of stress, but she just couldn't believe that she had married this man that was treating her and her family like this."

A little image rehab could do Kim some good.

Soon after she filed for divorce Oct. 31, critics began calling her marriage a sham, “Saturday Night Live” poked fun with a “Kim’s Fairytale Divorce” sketch and her former publicist began claiming her wedding was staged. Not to mention grassroots boycotts to get the whole family booted off television and the angry fans calling for her to be fired from Tyler Perry’s “The Marriage Counselor.”

Now, Radar sources say she’ll do anything to get back in the public’s good graces and keep her many endorsement deals.

“Kim carefully and methodically plans all of her business decisions, and that is how she is looking at her divorce, as all business,” says the source. “Of course she is sad, but it's all about Kim's endorsement deals and paid promotional appearances.”

Despite Kim’s troubles and the boycott, the rest of her family seems to be doing just fine. Since she filed for divorce, sisters Kourtney and Khloe debuted a novel called “Dollhouse,” while mom Kris Jenner released her memoir “Kris Jenner and All Things Kardashian.” Meanwhile little brother Rob is competing in the ‘Dancing With the Stars” finals.
