Peter Facinelli files for divorce from Jennie Garth

Peter Facinelli and Jennie Garth

Peter Facinelli on Wednesday filed for divorce from Jennie Garth, and she in turn filed her response, making official the relationship bombshell they dropped two weeks back.

The paperwork reportedly came over the Los Angeles Superior Court transom 15 days after the couple, who have three children together, announced their plans to separate after 11 years of marriage.

"While we have decided to end our marriage, we both share the same deep love and devotion to our children," Facinelli and Garth said at the time in a joint statement. "We remain dedicated to raising our beautiful daughters together. We ask for privacy and respect during this time."

The reason given for the split was irreconcilable differences, apparently revolving in large part around the toll Facinelli's work schedule took on their marriage. The "Twilight Saga" and "Nurse Jackie" star was commuting to Vancouver, Canada, and New York during the week, returning to California most weekends to the family home in Santa Ynez, Garth told People. The day after announcing their split, the couple publicly denied rumors of infidelity, calling them "hurtful."

When Facinelli asked Garth last fall for a divorce, she was "very resistant," she said.

"I didn't want it to happen," she told the mag. "It took me some time to come to peace with it."

The divorce documents give the couple's separation date as Jan. 1 of this year. They are, according to TMZ, seeking joint physical and legal custody of daughters Luca, 14, Lola, 9, and 5-year-old Fiona. She is requesting her legal name be changed back to Jennie Garth from Jennie Facinelli.

Kim Kardashian: The annulment, plastic surgeon and Las Vegas

Kim Kardashian
Kim Kardashian's feud with Jon Hamm is nothing compared with what she’s been going through this week. For instance, seeking an annulment from ex Kris Humphries and possibly suing a plastic surgeon over the use of her image on a billboard in Mexico.

However, her week ended on a high note. Kim headed to Las Vegas this weekend to help her brother Rob celebrate his 25th birthday.

When it comes to the annulment, it looks like the couple have come to a standstill, with each side  demanding that the other admit to fraud, reports TMZ. Kim insists that the pair agreed to reside in Hollywood, until Kris later pushed for her to move to Minnesota. However, the basketball star claims she never intended for them to stay together. It looks like money could be an issue too. Humphries reportedly wants $7 million, but Kim isn’t giving in.

And then there’s the plastic surgeon in Mexico who used her image without her blessing. It looks like the man behind the bikini-clad billboard in Mexicali, Dr. Victor Ramirez, could get sued for making Kim the unwilling poster child for his business, reports TMZ.

The site called Ramirez and asked if he had permission to use the image. He responded, "Obviously I did not speak to Kim Kardashian. I do not have her number." He then said he would contact the police and hung up.

Despite everything, Kim put it aside and headed to Sin City to party with her brother Rob on Friday, reports Eonline.com. The night out included dinner at Stack Restaurant & Bar with mom Kris and little sisters Kendall and Kylie, followed by a stop at 1 OAK nightclub (sans the younger girls).

Showing some sisterly love, Kim tweeted photos and wrote on her blog, “Happy birthday to my little brother Rob!!! I love you more than you know! You’ve grown into an amazing young man and I’m proud to call you my brother. I hope your 25th year is the best yet!! Love you so much! Xo”

Heidi Klum describes Seal and herself as 'yin and yang'

Heidi Klum

Heidi Klum and Seal are splitting up because -- why? Can someone remind us please, as the couple-in-love stuff just keeps on coming.

"I don't know why we work, my husband and I. We just do," the "Project Runway" host told InStyle UK, which she covers in March. "We are black and white -– yin and yang. To me, his beautiful face, great body, amazing heart, voice, his ability to be a loving, caring person and father ... what can I say?

Well, that was what she could say before they split up, we presume, given magazines' long lead time. Model Klum and singer Seal, parents of four, announced Jan. 23 that they were separating.

"I'm determined to mark our wedding every year with a really great party," Klum told the mag (via the New York Post). "We all work very hard and time goes by so fast and you can stumble over years without symbolic peaks in your life to remember -- so we create those."

The two have renewed their vows annually since their May 2005 wedding. Last week Seal told Ellen DeGeneres how much he and Heidi love and respect each other, even though they're breaking up.

Speaking in the present, however, Klum broke her post-split silence Tuesday. "Hi everyone, I want to thank u for all your support & kind words," she said on Twitter. "Really means so much. Thanks again...to the best fans in the world! xoHeidi."

One tidbit revealed by InStyle, having nothing to do with her relationship? Supermodel Klum says she's more about jewelry than clothes, and that the jewelry doesn't always have to be right on trend. Check out her cover-shoot video below.

Demi Moore seeks treatment for 'exhaustion,' 'overall health'

Demi Moore

Demi Moore is seeking professional help — the actress, whose split from husband Ashton Kutcher has fueled more than a few headlines in recent months, is getting treatment after reportedly visiting a local hospital Monday night.

"Because of the stresses in her life right now, Demi has chosen to seek professional assistance to treat her exhaustion and improve her overall health," her rep confirmed Tuesday. "She looks forward to getting well and is grateful for the support of her family and friends."

A 911 call reportedly made late Monday night resulted in Moore being taken by paramedics to a local hospital, according to TMZ, which cited law-enforcement sources who alleged the treatment was for substance abuse. Substance abuse was not confirmed Tuesday.

Despite the recent drama in Moore's personal life, appearance and attitude at CAA's pre-Golden Globes bash Jan. 13 gave little or no clue that something might be awry. Moore and Madonna sat out on the rear patio with some agent types, staying cool even when a newly beard-free Ashton Kutcher breezed in.

Mena Suvari files for divorce from Simone Sestito

Mena Suvari in December 2011

Mena Suvari filed for divorce Friday after just 18 months of marriage to concert promoter Simone Sestito.

The papers, filed in L.A. County Superior Court, cite “irreconcilable differences,” indicate the pair separated in November 2011 and request no alimony payments for Sestito, TMZ reports.

The “American Horror” actress also wants her old name back -- that would be Suvari, rather than Suvari-Sestito.

PHOTOS: Short celebrity marriages

Suvari, 32, and Sestito, 26, wed at a private church in Vatican City in 2010 after a romance that started at the 2007 Toronto Film Festival. This will be Suvari's second divorce. The "American Beauty" and her first husband, cinematographer Robert Brinkmann, ended their five-year marriage in 2005.

The couple follow in the footsteps of other high profile couples such as Katy Perry and Russell Brand, who split recently after less than two years together.

Katy Perry: No one speaks for her (but here's what they're saying)

Katy Perry and Russell Brand

Katy Perry and Russell Brand are keeping busy, just trying to stay apart. Oh, and it seems her parents couldn't be happier.

But first a heads-up: Perry said Saturday on Twitter that "[c]oncerning the gossip, I want to be clear that NO ONE speaks for me. Not a blog, magazine, 'close sources' or my family," so you might want to stop reading right now -- or keep going, to find out what all Katy might be referring to.

So! For those who've chosen to continue, it looks as if Brand has moved out of the couple's $6.5-million Hollywood Hills home, and that Perry will get to keep the house. But, will Katy have to cut her ex-hubby a check for the mansion? It is likely, if she plans to stay long term, TMZ reported.

It looks as if Brand will lose some of the spotlight too, with Perry strutting the red carpet for the upcoming award shows including the People's Choice Awards and the Grammys. This week rumors were swirling that Brand was actually uninvited to the People's Choice ceremony, but E! Online said he in fact declined the invitation.

And to top it off, Perry's parents took the already-public divorce to a whole new level, using their daughter's name to help spread the good word, Britain's Sun reported.

Zooey Deschanel files for divorce from Ben Gibbard

Zooey Deschanel has filed for divorce from Ben Gibbard

Zooey Deschanel has officially filed for divorce from Ben Gibbard, sliding the paperwork in at L.A. Superior Court before last year drew to a close.

Singer-songwriter and actress Deschanel, 31, and Death Cab for Cutie lead singer Gibbard, 35, separated on Halloween after two years of marriage. The decision was "mutual and amicable," it was reported at the time.

Court documents filed Dec. 27, obtained by TMZ, are par for the course in citing "irreconcilable differences," but the inclusion of her income and assets is a bit of a treat for the Hollywood-curious: The paperwork shows Deschanel with a little more than $3 million in assets, $95,000 a year coming in from She & Him and no credit card debt. Also detailed are expenses totaling $22,500 a month, including a $4,000-a-month mortgage, $2,000 a month for clothes and $1,500 going to charity.

PHOTOS: Celebrity splits of 2011

Not surprising to see she's doing OK — Deschanel had a pretty successful 2011 with the hot sitcom "New Girl" and more: She notched a Grammy nomination for the song "So Long" from "Winnie the Pooh" and a Golden Globe nod for performance by an actress in a TV series, comedy or musical, which means, come Jan. 15, she'll up against Tina Fey, Laura Dern, Laura Linney and Amy Poehler — no sweat, right? — for that shiny golden trophy.

Zooey also became an aunt in September, when sister Emily "Bones" Deschanel and husband David Hornsby welcomed a baby boy.

Rihanna, Chris Brown: Is the alleged Twitter affair getting ugly?

Chris Brown and Rihanna

Rihanna and Chris Brown's possible Twitter love affair took a new turn over the New Year's weekend -- now what was all sweetness and light looks to be turning into a digital simulation of the neighbors having a loud fight with the windows open.

After Brown rang in the new year in Las Vegas with girlfriend Karrueche Tran, pics of the couple together reportedly didn't sit right with Rihanna, who tweeted Monday, "How can you lie to her, while u lay with me???.....If you don't have an answer, you don't have to answer."

Of course, Rihanna could be tweeting about her dog for all we know, but she does have a recent history of sending out suspiciously timed love tweets that are just minutes behind Brown's similarly vague love tweets.

There's been no responding tweet from Chris Brown, so maybe he doesn't have an answer. Or maybe he's expanded on his resolution to stay away from the media in 2012?

Also no word on Twitter from Brown's girlfriend, Tran. But that may be because she's too distracted by all that food on her plate. If there's any love triangle going on here, it may be between Brown, Tran and McDonald's.

Sinead O'Connor reconciles with Barry Herridge, calls off divorce

Sinead O'Connor isn't getting divorced anymore.

Sinéad O'Connor's love life has another chapter. Actually this is more like an extended cut of the previous chapter. She announced on Twitter that she's back with her husband of less than a month.

The Irish singer, who married Dublin substance-abuse counselor Barry Herridge in Las Vegas in early December, then announced their separation a couple of weeks later, has called off the divorce proceedings.

As she put it late Tuesday, "yay!!! me husband is a big hairy cave man an came to claim me with his club : ) and now im in cave-land.. yay!!"

When one fan, who obviously doesn't speak cave man, tweeted to ask for confirmation that the singer now wasn't getting divorced, O'Connor responded, "Yup that's wot it means. An I can add to my lingerie collection. Size uk 12 btw for anyone wanting to send any. 36b. : )"

Previously, O'Connor had written a long post on her website announcing the breakup of the relationship due to people in her husband's life urging him away from her and to a "wild ride" in Las Vegas on their Dec. 8 wedding night, when self-described non-drinker O'Connor went looking for weed to smoke and ended up with a handful of crack instead.

Never a dull moment in the O'Connor household.

The good news for her Southern California fans is that they will have ample opportunity to congratulate her in person: The newly reconciled Mrs. H will be headed to L.A. on Thursday for a performance on Friday, and she'll return in February for a pair of shows at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery to celebrate the release of her new album, "How About I Be Me (And You Be You)?"

O'Connor says she's slowing things down with husband No. 4 and that they plan to act like boyfriend and girlfriend (or cave man and cave woman) for a while. Either way, this isn't likely to be the last of the O'Connor love drama in 2012.

Russell Brand-Katy Perry: A celebrity breakup to make us go 'aww'

Celebrity breakups: Katy Perry and Russell Brand are kaput

Among this year's celebrity breakups, the Katy Perry-Russell Brand split could be the most "aww"-inducing, with the kooky couple seeking a divorce after a romantic whirlwind courtship and only 14 months of marriage. But how did Russell wind up being the "bad guy" who actually filed the court papers?

Could be that he did it for her sake.

Perry's parents are evangelical Christians, according to TMZ, which heard from sources connected to the two that Katy was raised to believe divorce is wrong, and didn't want to upset her folks. So after trying to work things out and agreeing "it just wasn't there," Brand allegedly took one for the team.

PHOTOS: Celebrity breakups of 2011

"Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage," Brand said in Friday a statement. "I'll always adore her and I know we'll remain friends."

It doesn't appear as if religion was the reason for the split, though we can't imagine bits like his "I Am Jesus" music video , featuring lyrics such as "I wear a funny crown / I live in honey town / Somebody cut me down," going over great with evangelical in-laws. (That's one of five music videos Brand did in character as Aldous Snow for "Get Him to the Greek.") And there's always the reality that in-laws and family traditions are among married couples' top fights.

"I come from a very non-accepting family, but I'm very accepting," Perry told Vanity Fair regarding her religious beliefs as an adult, after a strict upbringing by evangelical ministers. “Russell is into Hinduism, and I'm not [really] involved in it."

Though Russell has had his way with religion and believers in his stand-up material and film work (here's a sample; watch out for the profanity at the end), he expanded a bit on his religious beliefs and defended the existence of God, writing for the New Statesman in April of this year:

"Through Transcendental Meditation, twice daily I feel the bliss of the divine. Through the mental repetition of a mantra, eventually my chattering monkey mind recedes, gently banishing concerns of the past and drawing the inner eye away from speculation and want. I connect to a boundless consciousness that has no palpable relationship with my thoughts, fears or desires."

Perry and Brand were married in a traditional Hindu ceremony Oct. 23, 2010, at a resort in Ranthambhore National Park in northwestern India. At the beginning of this month, Brand told Ellen DeGeneres that he was "really happily married" and that the Internet was "a wicked little liar."

How will Katy be as a single lady once again? Check out the video below, from a few years back, and tell us what you think.
