Ryan Seacrest assembles Lady Gaga, Coldplay, John Mayer and more for online concert

RyanseacrestOne would likely need Ryan Seacrest's Rolodex to assemble a roster of superstars for a two-day, online streaming music festival -- so it's probably best that the host has taken it upon himself to do just that.

Lady Gaga, Coldplay, Sting, Usher, Carrie Underwood, Nicki Minaj, John Mayer and the Black Eyed Peas are among those set to perform at the Las Vegas music festival Seacrest is spearheading with iHeartRadio.

Seacrest has also invited Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler, Kenny Chesneyand David Guetta for the digital to-do, set for Sept. 23-24 at the MGM Grand.

Lopez, from Seacrest's "American Idol" family, showed up on the "Today" show Monday to join in announcing the event, with talk turning to another announcement folks are waiting to hear from her: whether she'll as a judge on the Fox singing competition.

"I have no announcement to make as of this moment, but I promise ... you'll be the first to know," she teased.

This post has been corrected. Please see the note below for details.

Country music crooners and honorees hit the red carpet for the 46th Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas on Sunday. Among the guests at the ACMAs: Miranda Lambert, who was nominated for seven awards, including song and album of the year.

Nominees Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood   got all dolled up for the show, rocking Elie Saab and Jean Fares gowns, respectively.

Red carpet photos on the Academy of Country Music Awards Surfer Bethany Hamilton, the subject of the new film "Soul Surfer," arrived to present an award at the show. Underwood, who appears in the film, performed with "American Idol" judge Steven Tyler, whom she smooched onstage.

The show, which took place at Mandalay Bay and the MGM Grand simultaneously, was hosted by actress-singer Reba McEntire and Blake Shelton, who is engaged to Lambert. Click the pics to see who else got fancy on the red carpet.

Keith Urban and wife Nicole Kidman hit the red carpet, as did "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" actress Marg Helgenberger, "Gossip Girl's" Chace Crawford and former "Dancing With the Stars" dancer and country singer Julianne Hough.

Martina McBride, three-time winner in the academy's top female vocalist category, arrived in a Pamella Roland gown.

Charles Kelley, Dave Haywood and Hillary Scott, the members of Lady Antebellum, snagged several awards over the course of the evening. Sugarland members Kristian Bush and singer Jennifer Nettles, nominated for vocal duo of the year, performed during the ceremony.

For the record, 1:10 p.m. April 11: A previous version of this post misspelled Reba McEntire's last name as McIntyre.

Reports: Kara DioGuardi out at 'Idol,' Carrie Underwood says she doesn't know who's in

Kara-and-randy

Kara DioGuardi has reportedly been fired from "American Idol," according to a TMZ source, with a reprieve possible only if a rumored deal with Jennifer Lopez falls through. This right after Ellen DeGeneres announced her departure.

Getting fired, with one chance to be saved? Sounds a little bit like what happened to big Mike Lynche on the most recent season of the singing competition. And we know how that worked out for him.

Lopez was the big name reported Thursday, though that's still unconfirmed, as is the rumor that Steven Tyler of Aerosmith would be pulling up a chair. Too bad the Howard Stern rumors are so old -- he has long dark hair too.

Meanwhile,  Season 4 "Idol" champ Carrie Underwood put in her two cents' worth after performing on "Today" on Friday morning. Said the newlywed: "Everybody's like, 'Do you know anything?' I'm like, 'I know what you know. I have nothing.'" She knows nothing except, when it comes to "Idol," "You never know what's going to happen."

See Underwood perform on "Today," after the break.

Carrie Underwood's wedding to fill a ritzy Georgia hotel this weekend

Carrie Underwood and fiance Mike Fisher kiss at the CMT Awards. Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher are getting married Saturday, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports, and to do it they're taking over an entire Ritz-Carlton hotel.

The wedding party began arriving Thursday, AJC sources say. Carey Williams, editor of the Herald Journal in wee Greensboro, Ga. -- population 3,000 and home of the Ritz-Carlton Lodge, Reynolds Plantation -- tells Radar Online that the singer "has blocked off all 251 rooms at the hotel," and will arrive Friday by helicopter.

These are the kinds of fun things people can do when they're pulling in eight figures a year, like Underwood has been doing. The "American Idol" winner's wedding tab is estimated at a half-million bucks.

"It’s going to be a good-size wedding with plenty of good food and an open bar," hockey star Fisher had said to Life & Style, which first had the announcement of the date. "But nothing too overblown."

The mag said he was in charge of planning the honeymoon.

Underwood tried to keep incognito, an onlooker said, but gave in to her excitement when her girlfriends busted out blue feather boas and made her dance on a Lavo banquette.

You know what gets us excited? Robin Thicke. The sexy singer was spotted Tuesday at Los Angeles' H.wood Tea Room, where he performed a set at Jaguar's Evening of Music and Luxury.

James Van Der Beek rolled through with girlfriend Kimberly Brook for the performance, dancing closely and sipping Ty Ku cocktails.

People's Choice Awards: the best-dressed, and the worst

Glee
Carrie Underwood
, you looked good, hon! You too, Sandra Bullock! And of course, Olivia Wilde rarely disappoints, and her People's Choice Awards ensemble was no exception.

Carrie refer At least that's what our friends at All the Rage had to say after the checking out the red carpet Wednesday night. And since they know fashion like we know celebrity Twitter meltdowns, we trust them and sometimes repeat what they say, so we sound smarter.

They had pointers for Lea Michele (ouch, those shoes) and style condolences for "Gossip Girl" Kelly Rutherford and the usually spiffy Ginnifer Godwin. But hey, that's half the fun, right?

If you missed the red carpet coverage, click on the pic of Carrie to the right and you'll launch into the Image section's Fashion Diary photo gallery of the hits and misses from the People's Choice Awards.

What'd they think of Mark Salling's vest? Sorry, gotta go to the gallery for that answer.

Incidentally, the Ministry kinda liked Lea's shoes. But -- that might be why we're here with the gossip, and they cover fashion.
