Osama bin Laden dead: Celebrities take to Twitter

Osama bin Laden dead: Celebrities react on Twitter

As quickly as the nation learned Sunday night that Osama bin Laden was dead, Hollywood types and other luminaries fired off tweets in reaction to President Obama's news with messages of support for the U.S., mixed emotions over the loss of human life and some pretty heavy re-tweeting.

The always original Kirstie Alley went with humor, sending out, "Ding Dong the Witch is dead... the wicked witch.. Ding Dong the wicked witch is dead!"

Lindsay Lohan wasn't as veiled in her patriotism, shooting off a simple, "Go USA!"

Which other stars were among those expressing thoughts in 140 characters or less?

@SteveMartinToGo: Slow news day.

@Alyssa_Milano: AMAZING! This photo, from @nytimes, pretty much says it all. Photo: http://tumblr.com/xul2crc9jr /via @Newsweek

@ParisHilton: Just landed back in LA, so happy to hear the news of Osama bin Laden's death. He was the face of terrorism and such an evil man. The world is a much better place with him not in it.

@AndersonCooper: Does anyone else find it moving hearing people singing our national anthem outside the white house gates? I do.

@JeremyPiven: Amazing night for all of us, innocent people were not harmed and justice prevailed

@KimKardashian: Osama Bin Laden is dead!!! I can't wait to hear President Obama's announcement!!!

@BillMaher: Somali pirates, Gaddafi's son, now bin Laden - do NOT [mess] with Obama, he's Gangsta!!

@SarahPalinUSA: A Grateful Nation http://fb.me/WCYB81GR

And the Ministry's highly non-scientific calculation of most re-tweeted quote goes to: "I've never wished a man dead, but I have read some obituaries with great pleasure." — Mark Twain.

Bill Maher: Rush Limbaugh shouldn't be telling 'fat' jokes

Bill Maher and Arianna Huffington Bill Maher thinks Rush Limbaugh should reserve his thoughts on the first lady's weight -- as he literally has no room to talk, according to the "Real Time" host.

"That's too easy," Maher told the Ministry regarding recent comments Limbaugh made about Michelle Obama's size, "because Rush is fat."

Maher breezed through West Hollywood's Roxy Theater on Wednesday night to help his pal Arianna Huffington celebrate her website's comedy section.

Excited funnymen like "Mr. Sunshine" actor Matthew Perry tried to grab their five minutes with Maher, while Huffington greeted friends and supporters (with some of her newly acquired AOL partners in the house).

We were curious, given his affinity for Huffington and her site, can we expect the Maher Post any time soon?

"I'm happy blogging for her," he said.

Celebs who support Prop. 19: Everybody must get stoned?

Zach Galifianakis supports Prop. 19

What do Willie Nelson and Snoop Dogg have in common? Support for Proposition 19, which if it gets a majority of votes in Tuesday's election would legalize marijuana for personal use in California.

Snoop Dogg supports Prop. 19 "Prop. 19? You know where I stand on that. Very high," the Dogg has said.

"I think it's absolutely time to at least see if it works, experiment," said comic David Cross, who voices Minion on the new DreamWorks animated flick "Megamind." "Let California be the experiment."

Sting, Danny Glover, Melissa Etheridge and of course Bill Maher and "Hangover" actor Zach Galifianakis are among the "yes" votes -- though of course there are two sides to the argument, even if you lean Libertarian.

Which other celebs support Prop. 19, and why? Click on the photo of Snoop at right to launch a detailed photo gallery of a dozen or more entertainers who don't fear the reefer. What their weed habits say about them is something you'll have to find out for yourself.

Zach Galifianakis smokes a joint during Prop. 19 debate on Real Time With Bill Maher

After Zach Galifianakis appeared to sparkup a joint Friday during a Proposition 19 discussion on "Real Time With Bill Maher," panelist Margaret Hoover took a whiff and seemed to confirm the weed was real. However, Maher's publicist told website RumorFix on Monday that, nah, that kidder Zach was just pulling our leg. No bud here, honest!

We had been wondering why the host didn't partake, but it all makes sense now, right? Maher made the same point to CNN's Wolf Blitzer on Monday when he too said it was just an illusion. Or maybe just cloves.

"Zach's crazy, he's not that crazy," Maher said of the "Due Date" star.

Prop. 19 — which through means we don't quite understand would legalize possession and cultivation of pot for personal use — has been running behind in the polls recently, even with supporters getting a million bucks at the last minute from George Soros. On Monday, supporters of legalizing marijuana via Prop. 19 were aiming to get out California's youth vote.
