Natalie Portman reveals baby's name: Aleph Portman-Millepied

Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millepied Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millepied's baby son finally has a name -- or more specifically, the world finally knows the name that Natalie Portman and fiancé Benjamin Millepied gave their new baby son.

The little man has been dubbed Aleph Portman-Millepied, according to People.

"Aleph" is the first letter in the Hebrew alphabet, and has possible meanings including "leader" and "the oneness of God." Closer to its religious roots in Judaic Kabbalah, it translates to "primordial one that contains all numbers."

News of Aleph's arrival came in mid-June. No word on when his parents will tie the knot, but we hope it's soon -- if only for a possible peek at a newborn-size tuxedo.

Mike Huckabee on pregnant-out-of-wedlock Natalie Portman

Natalie Portman Nothing like a little sound-bite tango to take the edge off of an Oscar win -- Mike Huckabee made headlines this last week for comments about actress Natalie Portman, specifically regarding her and fiance Benjamin Millepied getting pregnant while unwed.

On Monday, the will-he-or-won't-he 2012 presidential prospect went on Mike Medved's radio program to discuss his new book, and used Portman as a reference in discussing single mothers in the United States.

"People see a Natalie Portman who boasts, 'We're not married but we're having these children and they're doing just fine. ... I think it gives a distorted image. It's unfortunate that we glorify and glamorize the idea of out-of-wedlock children," Huckabee said.

The former Arkansas governor's book leads off with a chapter titled "The Most Important Form of Government is a Father, Mother, and Children."

In the days after that interview, Huckabee learned what happens when you say stuff about Natalie Portman.

The comments went wide, almost universally perceived as a diss, prompting Huckabee to post some follow-up remarks on his website Friday.

"Natalie is an extraordinary actor, very deserving of her recent Oscar and I am glad she will marry her baby's father. However, contrary to what the Hollywood media reported, I did not 'slam' or 'attack' Natalie Portman," he wrote.

"My comments were about the statistical reality that most single moms are very poor, under-educated, can't get a job, and if it weren't for government assistance, their kids would be starving to death. That's the story that we're not seeing, and it's unfortunate that society often glorifies and glamorizes the idea of having children out of wedlock."

(For the record, the Christian Science Monitor notes, statistics show that while families headed by a single mom have a higher poverty rate than families headed by a single dad or a married couple, the majority of single-mom households do not fall below the poverty level.)

Portman remained mum. We'd love your thoughts, and can we just say -- how about a week of peace for the best actress Oscar winners after they take the prize?

Let us not forget that Sandra Bullock had only a precious few days with her gold statue before, well, you know

Oscars: Natalie Portman and the anatomy of a dress

Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millepied at the Academy Awards The Ministry defies you to argue that this award season hasn't been All. About. Natalie. Natalie Portman, that is.

All eyes have been on the "Black Swan" star and expectant mother, and her red carpet fashion, even after she flew into L.A. on Thursday evening from New York with her dish of a fiance, Benjamin Millepied, and stopped by a Vanity Fair celebration for Fox Searchlight wearing a $50 shift from H&M.

That got fashionistas talking, but the real question was what, and who, Portman would wear on the Academy Awards carpet. The nominee showed a floor-length purple gown (an interesting choice, if you ask us) by Rodarte — the same label that crafted a few of her ballet costumes in "Swan." Dramatic fringe-drop earrings and gem detail on her decolletage completed the look.

So why do we care? Well, if and when Portman nabs the trophy for actress in a lead role, the dress becomes iconic and the image of her will be used exhaustively.

Remember Sandra Bullock's Marchesa gown from 2010? It's impossible to forget, after shots of her wearing it ran countless times thanks to her "Blind Side" win — and the misadventures of a certain ex-husband.

Natalie Portman and her baby bump on the red carpet

"Black Swan" star Natalie Portman is expecting a baby with fiance Benjamin Millipied, in case you've been living under a rock. And on Portman's way to Sunday's Oscars red carpet, she swaddled that baby bump in any number of glamorous getups.

The Ministry is proud to present a mini-restrospective on the pregnant Portman, above, from left, with her looks from Saturday's Independent Spirit Awards, the Feb. 7 Oscar nominees luncheon, the Jan. 30 Screen Actors Guild Awards and the Jan. 16 Golden Globe Awards.

Will Portman win the lead actress Oscar? Time will tell — but for now we'd like to give her an unofficial "nicely played" nod.

Natalie Portman: 'Black Swan' almost killed me

Natalie Portman in Black Swan Natalie Portman is now reaping the rewards of her intense performance in "Black Swan" — but it wasn't always award nominations and red carpets.

"There were some nights that I thought I literally was going to die," she told EW recently about playing perfection-obsessed ballerina Nina Sayers.

"It was the first time I understood how you could get so wrapped up in a role that it could sort of take you down."

Portman indeed reaches terrifying places is Darren Aronofsky's sexually charged fever-dream of a film, but Portman was more concerned about the movie finding an audience. And then she realized that lady-loving with Mila Kunis would save the day.

"I remember them being like, 'How do you get guys to a ballet movie? How do you get girls to a thriller?' And the answer is a lesbian scene," she said.

"Everyone wants to see that."

Benjamin Millepied: Who is Natalie Portman's future husband?

Benjamin Millepied Benjamin Millepied? Those unacquainted with the making of "Black Swan," or who don't frequent the New York City Ballet, might not be entirely familiar with Natalie Portman's just-announced fiance and baby daddy.

Let the Ministry help you with that. Some Benjamin Millepied essentials include:

Serious pedigree: Millepied is a principal dancer at the aforementioned NYCB, and he choreographed "Swan" with both professional dancers and shaped novices including Portman and Mila Kunis

He's a smokeshow: To your right.

But he wants to direct: Millepied appeared in several scenes with Portman as, um, the principal male dancer in the fictional "Swan" ballet troupe. The Frenchman also directed a short film, "Time Doesn't Stand Still," and doesn't seem opposed to a Hollywood crossover. "I think you can learn to act," Millepied told Details in June.

He's a romantic: In the same Details interview, Millepied took cues from Portman on their fierce privacy, but couldn't help giggling while text messaging her under the table. Likewise, we couldn't help but notice he posted this sweet image of Camille Claudel's "Bronze Waltz" on his blog Monday morning after the world learned he was off the market.

What's your impression of dear Benjamin Millepied? Tell us in the comments section below.
