Snooki, Jionni LaValle make it official: Pregnant and engaged

Jionni LaValle and Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi

Snooki and Jionni Lavalle are engaged to be married and expecting a baby together, the "Jersey Shore" star confirmed Wednesday, and thank goodness 'cause the suspense was killing us, just killing us.

The couple found out she was pregnant right after New Year's, meaning her first thought was, "I've been drinking!" she told Us Weekly. "I was worried. It was New Year's Eve and we were in Vegas, so I did go crazy."

And we were going a bit crazy while we waited for Ms. Nicole Polizzi's cover story to come out.

First she stepped out Friday out in a baggy outfit, carrying a big purse, an outfit preferred by those trying to hide a baby bump. She then appeared in public Monday with an engagement-ring hunk of bling on her engagement-ring finger -- check it out via People -- after an unnamed source told the mag that she and LaValle had gotten engaged.

But by Wednesday Snooki was telling the story her way: "I have different priorities now," she told Us. "I don't care what anybody else thinks. As long as I know I'm ready and he's ready."

Added boyfriend LaValle: "We are not going to screw this up."

Away from print, LaValle tweeted his thanks, plus apologies for the runaround: "Thank You everyone!!" he said. "Sorry about that wait but glad everyones happy!! Nicole and I are real excited!! Our baby is going to be #ShortnTan"

But that wasn't quite all from the boyfriend who doesn't often step into the spotlight.

"For All u jealous, disrespectful haters out there, u see what u wana see on tv! My fiancé and I n JR are going to be so happy! #youllgeturs."

Perhaps that last bit should have been addressed directly to Snooki's ex-boyfriend Emilio Masella, who on Monday actually took time out of his day to explain to TMZ that when he said, "I hope she has a miscarriage," he really meant that he hoped she wasn't pregnant.

Jessica Simpson boldly goes where others have gone before: naked

Jessica-simpson-naked-elle

Jessica Simpson has posed naked on the April cover of Elle magazine, inspired by the pose made famous by Demi Moore on the cover of Vanity Fair and a similar shot of Cindy Crawford on the cover of W.

And for when you're done staring at the "Fashion Star" mentor wearing no fashion at all, there's news as well: She and fiance Eric Johnson are expecting a girl.

"I swear, I will croak if she asks me for a pair of Nikes instead of Christian Louboutins!" Simpson told the mag. "Eric is so athletic. We're gonna have this athletic girl and I won't even be able to take her shopping, 'cause all she's gonna want is sports bras and Nikes!"

(Notes to Jessica: You still have to get through the diapers and onesies first. And we probably shouldn't say anything about allowing oneself to be styled as the twin of a woman who's going through a significant life crisis.)

As Elle tells it, here's how the magazine shoot came together: "Though mom-to-be Jessica Simpson arrived at Milk Studios in Los Angeles on a crisp January morning looking quite the fashionista in a Roberto Cavalli wrapdress, Lanvin wedges, and an oversize YSL leather bag, it quickly became clear to everyone on set that Simpson’s burgeoning belly should take center stage for the principal shot." The singer-actress-fashionista was described as "enthusiastic," reportedly discussing her pregnancy cravings after "confidently posing au naturel."

There's also a version of the cover with Simpson wearing a red dress, presumably for the more skin-shy retailers.

Thoughts?

Vanessa Minnillo and Nick Lachey are expecting their first baby

Vanessa Minnillo and Nick Lachey

Vanessa Minnillo and Nick Lachey are expecting a baby, the daddy-to-be announced Monday while co-hosting "Live! With Kelly."

And the mother-to-be — she's actually Vanessa Lachey now — followed up with a tweet of her own: "Finally, Nick and I are ready to share Our news... We have been Blessed with a little Angel! We can't wait to meet Baby Lachey!!!"

Said Nick during the show: "I've had a chance to do a lot of great things in my career and my life, but this is the one thing that, more than any other, I look forward to. The fact that it's actually here, it's overwhelming."

The TV personality and former 98 Degrees singer said his wife found out she was pregnant after appearing on the same show. After guesting, "she started to feel a little different, not quite herself, so she went to the store, got a pregnancy test, and it came back positive," he said. "So we're having a baby!"

Vanessa, 31, a television host and former Miss Teen USA, is about 12 weeks along, with a due date in late summer or early fall, said Nick, 38, who doesn't yet know the sex of the baby. The two got married last July on Richard Branson's Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands.

Rumors were swirling last week after Vanessa was photographed in Mexico with what appeared to be a baby bump — and that's exactly what it was.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner's baby name is ... not weird!

Jennifer Garner has baby boy

Ben Affleck has announced the name of his and Jennifer Garner's baby boy, and guess what? The name is normal!

Actually, the name is Samuel, but in the celebrity baby ranks, "Samuel" is about as normal as it gets.

"We are happy to announce on Feb. 27, Jennifer gave birth to a healthy baby boy, Samuel Garner Affleck," the new dad said Wednesday on Facebook. News of the baby's arrival leaked on Tuesday.

Little Sam -- we hope they call him Sam -- was reportedly born in Santa Monica, and joins older sisters Violet, 6, and Seraphina, 3. Garner and Affleck, who started dating in 2004, got married in June 2005.

Snooki is pregnant? Batten down the single-mom hatches!

Snooki is pregnant? Did she look preggers two weeks ago?

Snooki is pregnant?

Take some deep breaths, gentle reader, don't panic -- it'll all be over in five to six months, as Ms. Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi is reportedly three to four months along.

We couch that with a "reportedly," because even though the New York Post and E! News are presenting it as fact via sources, the news that Snooki is pregnant -- expected to come shortly via Us Weekly -- has yet to get the official stamp from reps or the party gal herself.

In fact, at the beginning of February, Polizzi was on "Good Morning America" firmly denying pregnancy rumors, which TMZ said was just her way of not jinxing things with a first-trimester announcement (and possibly without a deal in place to profit off the blessed news). This after dropping weight due to exercise and a reduction in drinking, E! reported.

Rumor has it that the baby daddy is boyfriend Jionni LaValle, with whom she's already looked at a big sparkly engagement ring.

We presume the liquor store that was denying admittance to new neighbor Snooki before she even moved in next door now has a little less to worry about -- though Forbes wonders how single motherhood, and the expected reduction in pint-size party power, will affect the "Jersey Shore" star's brand. If fans will accept parenting instead of partying, it could be a good thing.

As for the girls' new spinoff show, Snooki told Us Weekly: "It’s not always going to the club, drinking and partying. It’s the first time I’m going to be on my own for real. You've only seen the party side of us."

Now we'll get to see if there's a mommy side. A rep for MTV told People that filming started last week.

Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck welcome a baby boy

It's a boy for Ben Affleck and Jen Garner

This post has been corrected, as detailed below.

For Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck, the third time means a charming baby boy.

The couple have reportedly welcomed another addition to their household. Daughters Violet and Seraphina have a Santa Monica-born baby brother, according to several outlets, all citing a source close to the couple.

"It would be so weird to have a boy," Garner told Ellen DeGeneres in September as she and her husband were used to an all-girl house. She said at the time Ben would be thrilled at the news because he'd have someone to enjoy baseball with.

Garner's rep did not immediately return the Ministry's request for comment.

[For the record, 9:15 a.m. Feb. 29: An earlier version of this post misspelled Ben Affleck's last name  as Afflect.]

Beyonce working on two new albums (and Blue Ivy diaper duty)

Beyonce has two albums in the works
Clearly nothing can slow down Beyonce. The superstar and brand new mom has two new music projects in the works, according to one producer, as well as a film and raising daughter Blue Ivy.

Welcoming the little one on January 7 with husband Jay-Z, Beyonce was presumably tucked high above Manhattan changing diapers and cooing over little Blue's adorable face -- but a diva is a diva.

"The conversations about her next album literally just started and there [are] two projects happening," said Ryan Tedder, frontman of the band OneRepublic, tapped by the superstar to contribute.

"All I can say is you kind of feed her the best that you have, and she's this phenomenal filter and she takes it all in."

Tedder added that the material he's been writing focuses on parenthood. There's also speculation that one of the projects he's helping Bey with could be the motion picture soundtrack for Clint Eastwood's "A Star Is Born" update -- that has Beyonce at the lead.

That's a little more on her plate than dance class and PTA meetings, but she's Beyonce -- she's built for this, no?

Sienna Miller goes public with pregnancy, sports chic baby bump

Sienna Miller shows her baby bumpSienna Miller put a little femme in fashion during New York Fashion week, flashing her baby bump Tuesday at "The Ever Changing Face of Beauty" video installation.

Miller, 30, and boyfriend Tom Sturridge, 26, an actor, have been playing it a bit coy about their first child together, with word leaking out early in January that they were expecting.

The British actress, a spokeswoman for the Boss Orange fragrance, wore a Boss Black to the event hosted by W magazine's editor in chief, Stefano Tonchi, according to On the Red Carpet.

Miller was previously engaged to actor Jude Law, but that relationship fell apart for the first time after he'd admitted to an affair with his children's nanny, who was caring for Law's three kids with his first wife. They got back together after the 2006 breakup, but finally called it quits a little more than a year ago.

Sturridge and Miller have reportedly been dating for about a year, according to Us Weekly, which reported the pregnancy in January.

They "don't have plans right away to marry, if at all," a source told the mag.

Jason Bateman welcomes baby ... Maple ... Oh. How sweet.

Jason Bateman and Amanda Anka. The couple have a new daughter, Maple.

Jason Bateman and wife Amanda Anka have had a baby, and Alicia Silverstone and Mariah Carey should be jumping up and down.

Now people can talk about the Bateman choice of baby name — Maple Sylvie — and give poor Bear Blu and Moroccan a rest.

The baby was born Feb. 10, according to multiple news outlets. The couple, both 43, have a 5-year-old daughter, Francesca Nora. The girls' grandfather is, of course, Paul "Havin' My Baby" Anka.

As the Momformation blog points out, the new little Bateman could be named not for anything linked to Aunt Jemima but for the tree itself, a beautiful fall favorite. Many beloved baby names, after all, are inspired by trees and nature: Ivy, Aspen, Olive, etc.

Willow Sage, daughter of Pink and husband Carey Hart, was voted the best celebrity baby name in a 2011 poll. There's also that other tree: Apple. Gwyneth Paltrow likes that tree.

The baby news was noted on Twitter on Thursday.  As for Bateman himself — star of "Horrible Bosses" with Jennifer Aniston and Kevin Spacey and of the hilarious, cult-favorite TV comedy "Arrested Development" — one tweet really said it all:

Jason Batemen's life is so cool, first he's JASON BATEMAN, second his sister was MALLORY in fam ties, third his father in law is PAUL ANKA!! (Leelee)

Congratulations to the family on the new addition.
