Live, from New York: It's the American Natural History Museum's 2010 Gala, with guest Anne Hathaway

Anne-hathaway-museum Lion and tigers and bears and -- Anne Hathaway and Alec Baldwin and Meg Ryan?

American Natural History Museum 2010 gala

Such was the scene at the American Museum of Natural history's 2010 gala fund-raiser Thursday night in New York, where a crowd heavy with "Saturday Night Live" cast members, veterans and hosts  hung out in the company of dinosaur bones and ocean critters.

Spotted: Tina Fey, Steve Martin, Jimmy Fallon New York Gov. David Paterson, tennis champ John McEnroe with singer-wife Patty Smyth, Dr. Mehmet Oz, Abby Elliott, Jack McBrayer, Bill Hader, Fred Armisen, Jane Krakowski and Kristen Wiig. Click the pic of Baldwin and Ryan above to see more pictures from the event.

Why so many "SNL" faces? Lorne Michaels and his wife were among those who chaired the gala, and "Love & Other Drugs" star Hathaway will host the show on Saturday. Get a taste of that below.

Fans want Betty White for Emmys, Oscars -- can the White House be far behind? [poll]

Betty-white-hotdog-webIf at first you do succeed, try again -- with your sights set on something bigger and better.

Betty White fans have ramped up a new Facebook campaign, this time aiming to put her in the driver's seat at the Academy Awards. With "Saturday Night Live" hosting now on her resume, she'd fit right in with previous hosts Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin, both of whom have a long history with the late-night show. And with White's lauded comedic timing, perhaps she's just what next year's Oscar broadcast needs.

And if she needs to warm up before that global event? Well, another Facebook group is pushing for her to bump Jimmy Fallon from the gig and head up the Emmy Awards.

The Facebook page urging "SNL" to nab her as a host has logged more than half a million fans -- or, in new FB parlance, half a million people who "like" the idea -- between its launch in February and White's "SNL" performance Saturday. Apparently, that was enough to get Lorne Michaels' ear.

How many people have to like you before Oscar might listen? We shall see. And just watch -- if White were to snake the Emmys gig from Fallon, perhaps the queen of England better start watching her back.

A star is reborn as Judy Garland returns to the big screen in Hollywood

Bisset-tcm Hollywood may be divided into different kingdoms -- new and old, TV and film, young and distinguished -- but at least one star brings them all together: Judy Garland.

Borgnine-tcm Thursday's world premiere of the newly restored print of 1954's "A Star Is Born" at Grauman's Chinese Theatre brought out an unusually eclectic cross-section of stars, from Cher to Eli Wallach and Tippi Hedren to "Curb Your Enthusiasm's" Jeff Garlin, as well as Lorna and Joey Luft, the offspring of Garland and the film's producer, Sid Luft.

Mingling at Vanity Fair's after-party at Kress were Eva Marie Saint, "Psych's" Dule Hill, Anne Jeffreys, director Curtis Hanson, Ann Rutherford, Buck Henry, Hugh Hefner and "The Office's" Kate Flannery. Off in a corner booth, Alec Baldwin huddled with Jacqueline Bisset, Danny Huston and jewelry designer Nicky Butler.

For the suddenly ubiquitous Baldwin, this was home territory. One of the actor's many ...

PREACH IT! A Mueller-Sheen divorce? Gird your loins!

Sheen mueller2 New rumors are bubbling to the crusty, slimy surface of the whole Charlie Sheen mess. We already know that Sheen faces charges in Colorado -- allegations that he did some domestic violence on That Lady He Married, including holding a knife to her throat. Now, it seems, Sheen’s wife, also known as Brooke Mueller, wants a divorce as soon as the criminal court matters get tidied up.

Sheen’s past includes rehab, fun with injecting cocaine, the accidental shooting of a former fiancee and other drama. Mueller, for her part, reportedly has a substance abuse problem as well, a problem that has apparently landed her in rehab at least five times.

If these two do go through with a divorce, it’s likely to be the biggest celebrity Ragnarok in quite a while.

How big exactly? Let’s take a look at the marital cage matches we’ve seen thus far, and how they might stack up to a Mueller-Sheen matchup:

Exclusive: First look at Architectural Digest's 2010 Oscars green room

Architectural digest oscar green room
Imagine a mythical room where Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner talk "Breaking Dawn" against mirrored walls, where Alec Baldwin schmoozes Penelope Cruz, and last year's acting winners Kate Winslet and Sean Penn make cash bets on this year's nominees.

Some may call it heaven, or CAA's waiting room. It's actually this year's official Academy Awards green room at the Kodak Theatre, presented by Conde Nast's Architectural Digest for the eighth year in a row.

The rendering above is a first glimpse of the concept for March 7, a nod to Hollywood's golden era. The mag chose Roger Thomas, EVP of Wynn design and development, to create this year's space for nominees and presenters coming and going from stage and press.

PREACH IT! I shall take you up on your kind offer, Golden Globes gift gurus, and I shall name him Bacon Bits

Pig2 It’s Golden Globes swag suite time! Time for all the local PR companies to entice celebrities and press people to come to their rented hotel spaces and Hoover up all the free stuff they can carry!

Time for the free “mini makeovers” and blowouts and iPods with company logos on the back and caviar facials and pedicures by girls named Roxane and bags full of champagne and shampoo with foreign-sounding names and panties decked out in Swarovski crystals and chocolate candy that none of the leading ladies would ever be to stupid as to actually eat less than one week before the Globes.

I love swag suites. Any honest celebrity reporter loves swag suites. And this year I love one swag suite in particular. Because it isn’t just giving away all the usual stuff.

Somebody is actually giving away little tiny pigs.

That’s right. At a suite this week run by gifting guru GBK Productions, Globe nominees and presenters are expected to receive swag including trips and electronics. They will also receive truffle salt and truffle oil. To highlight the truffly goodness, GBK has also partnered with a company called Patty’s Royal Dandie Miniature Pet Pig, which breeds tiny pet pigs, to offer the animals as yet another gift.

Mario Lopez to host Miss America -- will they add a lingerie round?

Mariomerica Mario Lopez has been tapped to host the 2010 Miss America pageant, Gossip Cop and others are reporting, making that his third time in the job.

Yes, we refer to the same Mario Lopez who donned a leather corset and garter belt for a recent episode of the FX series "Nip/Tuck."

Wait, aren't people supposed to wait till after they're done with the whole Miss America experience before they get caught posing in that kind of get-up? Maybe it's just a "third time's the charm" thing for Mario.

An interesting competition might be shaping up among some of these event hosts, you know. Ricky Gervais is no stranger to embracing his masculinity (to accompany an interview in the UK's Observer Magazine).

Alec Baldwin's been working his hairy chest for years. Hey, whatever works.

And last year's Oscars host, Hugh Jackman, clearly set the bar nice and high for everyone involved.

So, um, we're thinking maybe Daniel Craig should get to host the Grammys or VMAs or Country Music Awards or something?

Please?

And as for Steve Martin ...

Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin will co-host the Oscars

Alechulu Between them they've hosted "Saturday Night Live" at least a couple thousand times, so why not invite Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin to host the Academy Awards? The duo will follow in Hugh Jackman's Oscar-hosting footsteps for the 82nd incarnation of the show, the Envelope's Circuit blog reports.

“We think the team of Steve and Alec are the perfect pair of hosts for the Oscars,” the producers said in a statement. “Steve will being the experience of having hosted the show in the past and Alec will be a completely fresh personality for this event.”

With Ricky Gervais setting the comedic tone early in the awards season as emcee of the Golden Globes, we could be in for a few more laughs than usual this time around.

Ahem, um, not that we watch awards shows. Because nobody watches those things anymore! Duh! That's so uncool!
