'John Carter' star Taylor Kitsch does his best James Dean
Given the scale of "John Carter," Disney's big new sci-fi offering, Taylor Kitsch has been inescapable of late.
Thankfully, he's pretty easy on the eyes. And he gives a pretty decent interview, particularly to the folks over at GQ, who worked the hard-bodied "Friday Night Lights" actor star into a fashion spread honoring James Dean.
"Dean is just an icon. Timeless. That's the kind of work you want to do as an actor. If 15, 20, 30 years after I'm gone you could turn on a movie that I've been a part of? At the end of the day, that's all you're going to have," Kitsch told the mag.
What he presently has is a ton of pressure. Kitsch has the fate of "Carter" on his back, as well as the "Battleship" gamble with costars Alexander Skarsgard and Rihanna, and finally Gus Van Sant's "Savages" opening at the end of the year.
"2012 is really make-or-break, isn't it?" he thought aloud. "Knock on wood, I hope to be doing these two franchises and to go on to do some passion stuff."
His first passion project is building his dream house in Austin, Texas. Kitsch fell in love with the city while filming "Friday Night Lights." Here's hoping America falls in love with him at the box office.
