Jason Segel spent Friday night dressing up in Muppet drag, plugging his family’s business and picking up a very special pudding pot -– all as Harvard’s Hasty Pudding Theatricals man of the year.

Following in the footsteps of stars like Jay Leno and Justin Timberlake, Segel took home the group’s top honor for his work as an actor, writer and producer. He’s best known for his roles in “The Muppets” (hence the Miss Piggy wig and bra), “How I Met Your Mother,” “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” and “Freaks and Geeks.”

“This is a very prestigious thing and it is very fun, but half the reason it meant anything to me is that my whole family lives here,” he told the Boston Channel, and he wasn’t kidding around.

With his relatives seated in the front row, Segel gave a huge plug to his family’s business, a men’s clothing store his grandfather opened 40 years ago called Mr. Sid.

“Please check out Mr. Sid,” he told the crowd. “It is the finest suits, sweaters … really anything you need.” No word on whether Mr. Sid supplied the actor’s dapper blue-velvet suit.

Woman of the year Claire Danes picked up her Hasty Pudding pot on Jan. 26.
