Alec Baldwin’s self-imposed Twitter hiatus has ended, just in time for the sixth season of ’30 Rock,’ which starts Thursday.

Baldwin resumed tweeting Saturday, almost one month to the day after he suspended his account in the wake of his showdown with an American Airlines flight attendant over an ill-timed game of Words With Friends. On Dec. 6, Baldwin shut down his account, leaving fans with video of an orchestra performing Mahler’s 9th Symphony, fourth movement.

Why the change of heart? Perhaps it was a little R&R in the Turks and Caicos with his 28-year-old yoga instructor girlfriend, Hilaria Thomas, that brightened his spirits. On the flight back from the vacation to celebrate her birthday, Baldwin returned to social media.

‘I only came back on Twitter bc I miss @edbegleyjr and @GarryShandling,’ Baldwin wrote.

After a little chit-chat with fans, Baldwin waded back into testy waters when he responded to his girlfriend’s gripe about their delay at the airport. ‘I am waiting for pirates to storm this lounge,’ he responded. While the holidays may have warmed Baldwin to the prospect of interacting with the public again, his issues with commercial air travel seem to linger.

Whatever his issues are with air travel, there’s one opinion he states that you won’t see causing too much of a dust-up in the media. ‘Read a newspaper, in print or online, every day,’ he wrote Monday morning.

He’ll get no argument here.

Meanwhile, in case you’re wondering about the actor’s Words With Friends obsession (the game he didn’t stop playing when the American Airlines flight attendant asked him to shut down his electronic device), Tina Fey was recently on ‘Late Night With David Letterman’ to cast some light on the origins of Baldwin’s Words love.
