Lauren Alaina survives national anthem flub with class [Video]
Well, Lauren Alaina definitely wasn't lip-syncing the national anthem before the Detroit Lions-Green Bay Packers game on Thanksgiving Day, that's for sure.
The "American Idol" runner-up had a bit of a senior moment at the start of "The Star-Spangled Banner" -- though in her case it was more of a senior-in-high-school moment, as she just turned 17. The NFL crowd got a few seconds of surprising silence after Alaina flubbed a lyric and found herself off track. Check out the picture above, which shows who else was watching, in addition to, oh, a huge chunk of America. No pressure, right?
She recovered and powered through the rest of the tune, then said later on Twitter to supportive fellow "Idol" alum Kellie Pickler, "thank you so much(: I'm not a robot. I have No excuses. I messed up. You know what can ya do. At Least didn't fall down again." (Footage of Alaina falling down the stairs at the contestants' house was highlighted by the show during the most recent season.)
"Thank you everyone for the kind words," Alaina added for the rest of her fans. "But the truth is I messed up. I'm gonna spend the rest of the day being thankful for all my blessings."
Nice to see she regained her balance with more class than Detroit's Ndamukong Suh did during the game. Lil' Lauren didn't need to kick anyone in the head, as pal Pickler definitely had her back.
"HEY DOLL! YOU HANDLED YOURSELF LIKE A PRO!," Pickler had shouted out on Twitter. "SEND THE BULLIES MY WAY & I'LL TELL EM' WHERE TO GO! XO :)"
