Even folks who couldn’t care less about the Kardashian family have been intrigued by the possibility: Was Kim Kardashian’s marriage to Kris Humphries a sham? Simply a ‘showmance,’ arranged for the reality-TV cameras?

Alas, bandwagon Kardashian fans: On the record, most people are swearing the kids’ short-lived wedded bliss was for real. Of course, many of those people are on the Kardashian side of things.

‘I am trying not to read all the different media reports but it’s hard not to see all the negative ones,’ Kim wrote on her personal blog Tuesday. ‘First and foremost, I married for love. I can’t believe I even have to defend this. I would not have spent so much time on something just for a TV show!’

She blamed her overwhelming desire for all the stuff normal mortals have (‘I want a family and babies and a real life so badly that maybe I rushed in to something too soon.’) and, well, she kind of blamed the normal mortals in the audience, saying she was so ‘caught up with the hoopla and the filming of the TV show that when I probably should have ended my relationship, I didn’t know how to and didn’t want to disappoint a lot of people.’ Later, unnamed sources surfaced courtesy of TMZ to allege she was also blaming her in-laws, telling friends that they hated her and had been nasty.

Technically, Kim apologized broadly, if an ‘I’m-sorry-but’ counts: ‘I’m sorry if I have hurt anyone,’ she wrote, ‘but my dad always told me to follow my heart and I believe now that I really am.’

She also asked that her courage be respected as she goes through this difficult time, which finds her at a nightclub in Sydney, Australia, promoting a new line of Kardashian Kollection handbags with sister Khloe.

(Khloe Kardashian would be the sister Kathie Lee Gifford said walked by at the wedding reception and whispered to her, ‘I give it six ... months.’)

Kris Humphries reportedly was blindsided by the divorce filing Monday, then issued a statement to various outlets saying, ‘I love my wife and am devastated to learn she filed for divorce. I’m committed to this marriage and everything this covenant represents. I’m willing to do whatever it takes to make it work.’ Of course, who hasn’t dated someone who wouldn’t take ‘I’m outta here’ for an answer? Maybe Humphries got the hint after she unfollowed him on Twitter?

Kris Jenner declared Wednesday on the ‘Today’ show — where she was promoting her new book — that it ‘certainly wasn’t a sham,’ and that it saddened her that people were thinking that way. Also, mom said, rather than making money off the wedding, Kim paid a balance due, even after rolling in the $500,000 to $1 million she made selling the pictures.

E!, known in some circles as the Kardashian network, denied orchestrating the marriage for the cameras, calling such rumors ‘completely false’ even as it figured out how to handle reruns of a wedding special that seems like a crazy ‘before’ juxtaposition in the context of the union’s ‘after’ status.

Why run it at all, even after moving the second half of the wedding rerun from Tuesday to Thursday, so as not to seem insensitive? ‘We are a topical network and this is a topic at the moment,’ E! Entertainment President Suzanne Kolb told the Associated Press, noting that the rerun will include an introductory message acknowledging the bride had filed for divorce Monday (the day the first-half rerun hit the air).

After ‘Dancing With the Stars’ on Tuesday, brother Rob Kardashian told E! News they were all behind Kim as a family because she was ‘obviously going through a lot.’ For the record, seven weeks in, Rob has survived to this season’s ‘DWTS’ top five, whereas Kim was the third to be booted out of her season’s 13 contestants.

In similarly weird low-key marriage news, Tara Reid revealed last week that despite making a big deal back in August about going from engaged to married inside of two hours, she and Zack Kehayov ‘were never really married. It was never legal.’

Really — how many times can our hearts be broken? You’re killing us, ladies.
