Sarah Michelle Gellar scored big in her return to television as her twins thriller ‘Ringer’ debuted Tuesday to notable numbers for the CW network.

The network reportedly had its best ratings in two years for the time slot, making Gellar’s comeback a safe bet -- for the premiere, anyway.

The curiosity factor is always a given with someone such as Gellar, whose ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ juiced up her film career and made her a pop-culture icon. And hunky costars such as Kristoffer Polaha, Nestor Carbonell and Ioan Gruffudd don’t hurt as bait for potential new viewers.

Gellar knows what’s at stake, especially for a dramatic mystery that isn’t in her familiar realm of the supernatural.

‘I loved ‘Lost,’ but I felt it just got deeper and deeper and we never get anything out of it,’ she told the Los Angeles Times for the fall TV preview.

‘[Producers] pitched me the first three seasons all the way through. Some things have already changed, but the big questions we have answers to, and we give them out a little bit every episode.’
