Prince Harry was born Prince Henry Charles Albert David 27 years ago today, and how will he celebrate? Will he be the wild-child royal caught on video doing the Croatian boogie?

Or, as he nears 30, will he conform more to the persona conveyed on the official Prince of Wales website? Eton student, young documentarian focusing on the plight of orphans in Lesotho, proud soldier, charity founder, helicopter pilot in training.

He’s likely a bit of both. The prince has progressed steadily in hits military career but took a breather in August in Croatia. Harry, whose adventures are thoroughly documented on the Web, was on leave when he visited a nightclub with friends and security. Dancing on a ledge above a swimming pool, he took a dive into the water, climbed out of the pool and kept on dancing.

His romantic exploits also receive plenty of attention. His relationship with Chelsy Davy has been on and off more than a light bulb since 2004. He took the daughter of wealthy Zimbabwean businessman Charles Davy to Prince William’s wedding to Catherine Middleton, where, wags said, he was flirting with Kate’s sister, Pippa. There was talk of wedding bells between Davy and Prince Harry, but he has insisted he’s 100% single.

Prince Harry will be visiting California in early October, according to an Associated Press report quoting a spokeswoman with the Naval Air Facility in El Centro, Calif. Harry will be visiting as part of an Apache attack helicopter training course. The prince will train at the California base as well as an Arizona location.

With the prince 100% single, that would seem like good news for Southwestern women with princess dreams.
