Kim Kardashian is not trying to buy her own sex tape from Vivid. Rumors that the socialite was trying to get it off the internet once and for all appear false. However, someone out there is still hoping to scrape together $30 million for the X-rated video.

Vivid’s Steve Hirsch tells TMZ the shopper’s identity remains unknown, but the client’s rep swears it isn’t Kim or any of her friends, family or associates.

However, Kim and the public may find out soon enough. Hirsch, whose company owns the rights to the video, says he/she will reveal themselves and their reasons for wanting the tape, once they have the goods. The buyer just needs to come up with a few more million to seal the deal.

‘It made sense the entire time it would be Kim, but it appears it’s not,” he tells TMZ.

News of the negotiations surfaced in early September, just after Kardashian’s wedding to Kris Humphries. In a letter obtained by TMZ, Nashville lawyer Adam Dread told Hirsch, ‘The party we represent does not intend to distribute or broadcast the ‘tape,’ but hopes to completely remove it from the market,” adding that any outtakes or unused footage would be of interest too.

The video, purchased by Vivid for $1 million back in 2007, costars Ray J (singer Brandy’s brother). He doesn’t know the mystery buyer either, but told TMZ he “absolutely” wants it off the market too.
