Nicki Minaj hit Twitter to mourn the death of Nicholas Telemaque, her ‘precious cousin’ who was shot and left to die after he’d left a Brooklyn nightclub in the early hours of Monday.

‘Lived in Brooklyn his whole life. My precious cousin. My baby. Killed last nite,’ the pop singer, 28, told her followers on Monday. ‘My cousin Nicholas. Also goes by Juse, or @brolicalcoholic. Murdered. Last nite. Near his home. Brooklyn, NY.’

In her tweets, Minaj also included links to two pictures of Telemaque.

Telemaque had just left the C-PAC nightclub and was walking to his car about 2:40 a.m. when, police said, he was shot multiple times in his torso, the New York Daily News reported. He died later at Kings County Hospital, where he was transported from scene of the shooting, only blocks away from his home.

Minaj opened for Britney Spears on Monday night with a 45-minute set in Winnipeg, Canada.
