Josh Duhamel will revisit his ‘All My Children’ roots this summer, popping up once again in Pine Valley as the daytime drama rolls toward the end of its 41-year run.

Duhamel’s con-artist character Leo du Pres will rise from the ranks of the not-really-dead for a cameo in August, Show Tracker reports. The ‘Transformers’ and ‘Las Vegas’ star appeared on ‘AMC’ from 1999 to 2002, winning a supporting actor Daytime Emmy before heading to prime time.

Leo du Pres supposedly died on the show trying to rescue Rebecca Budig‘s Greenlee from a waterfall. Fortunately, his body was never found -- allowing for his return in a late-summer episode, or maybe two, according to EW.

Budig, incidentally, had fond memories of practicing her kissing technique back in the day on costar Duhamel.

ABC gave cancellation notices to ‘All My Children’ and ‘One Life to Live’ in April, with end dates of September 2011 and January 2012, respectively. The ‘AMC’ production moved from New York to Los Angeles last year, in part to cut costs.

While Duhamel prepares to go where James Franco has bravely gone before (on ‘General Hospital,’ that is) any thoughts on who else should make the pilgrimage to Pine Valley before the lights go out?
