The premiere of the Jim Carrey comedy ‘Mr. Popper’s Penguins’ gave new meaning to ‘June gloom’ Sunday as penguins waddled out of a limo and fake snow fell outside Grauman’s Chinese Theatre.

Carrey -- who stars as a divorced businessman whose life changes after he inherits a half-dozen penguins -- was joined in Hollywood by costars including Carla Gugino, Clark Gregg, Madeline Carroll, Maxwell Perry Cotton, Jeffrey Tambor, James Tupper and Ophelia Lovibond. Cast member Angela Lansbury was in New York, participating in the 2011 Tony Awards.

Also spotted: Tupper’s girfriend, Anne Heche, with her son Homer Laffoon, Gregg’s wife, Jennifer Grey, with their daughter Stella, Tommy Davidson of ‘Everyone Hates Chris,’ and Dick Van Dyke, who was photographed perusing the penguin pen.

Young faces on the red carpet included ‘Super 8’ cast members Riley Griffiths and Ryan Lee; Kiernan Shipka of ‘Mad Men’; Mason Vale Cotton, Maxwell’s younger brother; and Frankie Jonas, the Jonas brothers’ younger sibling.

‘Mr. Popper’s Penguins,’ rated PG, opens Friday. Click the pics for more photos from the red carpet.
