Dianna Agron likes girls -- no, loves girls -- and she would like to explain herself, if you have time for an essay.

In Toronto on Saturday, during one of the seemingly never-ending ‘Glee’ live tours, the real person behind Quinn Fabrey decided to go public with her feelings, changing into a shirt that said ‘Likes Girls’ for the troupe’s performance of ‘Born This Way.’

Agron’s appearance in the shirt — modeled on costumes worn in an episode about facing prejudice and self-down and conveniently available at the tour’s merch table — caused gleeks to utter a collective ‘Huh?’

Was Agron outing herself onstage? Will Quinn and Naya Rivera‘s Santana be dating next season? Or was she wryly commenting on Jane Lynch‘s appearance with Bill Maher for a dramatic reading of a salacious sexting exchange from Rep. Anthony Weiner‘s oeuvre?

The explanation is hardly dishy: Seemingly feeling an extra boost of inspiration from Lady Gaga‘s ‘Born This Way,’ she said she was expressing how much she loves and respects the women in her life and showing how much she supports the LGBT community.

She explained in detail on her Tumblr blog:

[D]uring our second show, Instead of wearing my usual shirt during ‘Born This Way’ I decided to wear one that said ‘Likes Girls’. It should actually have read, ‘Loves Girls’, because I do. The women in my life give me things that the men in my life can’t. And vice-versa. No, I am not a lesbian, yet if I were, I hope that the people in my life could embrace it whole-heartedly. And let me tell you, I can easily spill (quite comfortably) what I admire, respect and think is beautiful about any of the women in my life. Piece of cake!

There’s a whole lot more; as Agron put it, she did write ‘an essay.’

‘I am not asking for you to agree with what I am saying, but if you are listening, thank you,’ Agron wrote. ‘That is all I can ask. And a step further would be to take a moment to (honestly) answer the questions that I have raised.’

Deep. So what say you, gleeks — agree or disagree?
