Will Smith upsets SoHo neighbors with super-sized trailer
Will Smith is taking some heat from his new SoHo neighbors. It turns out they don't want him parking his super-sized trailer on their residential streets while he shoots "Men in Black III."
Smith is reportedly paying $9,000 per week for the 1,150-square-foot luxury trailer, according to the New York Post. Isn't that bigger than the average New York City rental? Well, he would know -- the actor is also renting a $25,000 per month apartment in the same neighborhood.
The double-decker trailer includes a large bedroom with a granite bathroom, a full-service kitchen with cherry cabinetry, marble flooring, office space for assistants, a meeting room for up to 30, a lounge and a movie room. The 53-foot trailer is actually one of two -- he has a 55-foot mobile gym onsite as well.
"This thing is like a duplex," neighbor Myrna Reisman, 62, told the Post. "How would Will Smith feel if I parked that thing out in front of his house? People forget this is a residential neighborhood, not a film lot -- that thing is taking up half our gasoline reserve."
If Reisman wants the trailer gone, she may well get her wish. The mayor's office has stepped in and asked the "Men in Black III" production to move it.
"New York City is currently experiencing record levels of film and television production," Julianne Cho with the Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting told CNN. "To balance the interests of the production and the neighborhood, we have instructed "Men in Black III" to relocate the trailer to a private lot."

New Yorkers certainly do bitch and whine a lot.

Will Smith is a certifiable narcissist.

What do you expect from some one who is so self-absorbed, he takes pictures of himself while fans beg for an autograph?

For the record, Will doesn't pay for the hydraulic double-decker bus... He owns it. If anything, Sony "rents" it for/from him for the shoot.
Secondly, people need to stop whining. The movie will be gone in a matter of days or weeks and all those wealthy SoHo dwellers can go back to their NY Times crossword puzzles and morning tea without a bus obstructing their floor to ceiling windows.
Thirdly: Really? This is news?

Will Smith is trailer trash.

So Smith owns the trailer, then Sony rents it "for him". It's because of these kind of practices that movies cost so much to make (admittedly, the cost of renting the trailer for Smith, from Smith is a drop in the bucket, but things like this add up across the board).
Isn't it about time that studio executives started to crack down on these kinds of practices? The studios will argue that we do these things to make the star happy. What? Getting paid millions for doing a job isn't enough to make anyone happy?
Nevermind...the whole thing makes me sick. No wonder I like low budget films more and more.

It's just plain rude. Hoggn up all that space, really? I can see if you were out on acres of acres of land, but this is NY, and I live in NY. These trailers & movie folk pay the city and get permits for things like this, but this oversized, unempathetic, eye sore, and emissions nightmare should not meet code requirements. Maybe pay the people $25,000 a week for those that live in a 2 block radius. Seems like Will has lost his way, thought he was cooler than that.
Hey Mr. Smith how would you feel about it if you lived in the building with that trailer right outside your window. THE GOLDEN RULE! do they teach that it scientology?

Wow Will...do you know how many of our own people you could feed and provide educational opportunities for with that $50,000+ a month waste?
And let me guess...coming to a threate near me, and them, will be another Will Smith flick about a down and out guy, homeless, trying to feed and shelter his child, right? Sad thing! I like THAT guy more than you...so stop playing characters that have character, if you're not willing to deliver on that yourself.
Obviously Will, you're out of touch...definitely seen my last Will movie...

He has no talent just like that ugly daughter of his. His son is of course riding on daddy's coat tails.
