Lindsay Lohan began her 35-day house arrest sentence Thursday, once again donning an electronic ankle bracelet to serve time for her probation violation and jewelry theft conviction.

Lohan turned herself in at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Century Regional Detention Facility at about 5 a.m., LA Now reported. The embattled actress then was ordered to remain at her Venice Beach townhouse and wear the electronic monitor around her ankle.

The 24-year-old was originally sentenced to four months in jail after pleading no contest to a misdemeanor charge of stealing a $2,500 necklace from a Venice jewelry store. But because of jail overcrowding and the nonviolent nature of her conviction, her sentence was cut almost in half and she was eligible to remain confined to her home. If she remains on good behavior, her days under house arrest could be cut further.

The ‘Mean Girls’ actress is required to stay in her home 24/7 and cannot go outside but is allowed to have visitors at the $7,100 monthly beach rental, according to RadarOnline. The ankle bracelet issued to her Thursday allows the sheriff’s department to monitor whether or not she leaves the property, not drug or alcohol use.

Lohan, who will soon costar with John Travolta, Kelly Preston and Al Pacino in the ‘Gotti: Three Generations’ biopic, is also required to serve 480 hours of community service. She’ll spend 360 of those hours working at a Skid Row women’s shelter and 120 hours at the L.A. County coroner’s office.

However, she will have to complete house arrest before being released to finish her community service requirements.
