Lindsay Lohan isn’t looking at county anymore -- the county D.A.’s office, that is. A judge’s April 22 decision to reduce the felony charge in the actress’ necklace-theft case has resulted in a prosecutorial hand-off, L.A. Now reports.

‘Because the charge was reduced by the court to a misdemeanor, the district attorney no longer has jurisdiction to prosecute the case and therefore, we will give the case to the Los Angeles city attorney’s office,’ Sandi Gibbons, spokeswoman for the L.A. County district attorney’s office, said Tuesday in a statement.

Lohan, who has already been sentenced to 120 days in jail and 480 hours of community service for violating probation, may be considering a no-contest plea in the case involving a necklace that went missing from a Venice boutique, TMZ reported Saturday. One possible result: No additional jail time.

A no-contest plea, rather than going to trial, would be in keeping with her statements on ‘The Tonight Show With Jay Leno’ last week that she’s ‘not a kid anymore’ and is ‘taking responsibility’ for her life.

The actress, recently cast in ‘Gotti: Three Generations,’ attended a community-service orientation session on short notice Tuesday afternoon at L.A.’s Downtown Women’s Center, raising some eyebrows as she was photographed in shorts and a sheer black sleeveless top.

Her next hearing is scheduled for May 11.
