In a breathtaking, game-changing fashion moment, the Duchess of Cambridge -- the artist formerly known as Kate Middleton -- stole the global style spotlight Friday in her stunning wedding gown, finally revealed as the work of Sarah Burton for fashion house Alexander McQueen.

"She's really her own person, she's showing the world that she's not here to only dress for fashion, she's here to dress for herself in a very elegant and dignified manner," bridal master Vera Wang commented on CNN's wedding broadcast.

So what makes up Kate's iconic look?

Dress: Sarah Burton, extending the legacy of the late great Alexander McQueen. "It has been the experience of a lifetime to work with Catherine Middleton to create her wedding dress, and I have enjoyed every moment of it," Burton said in a statement. The train was just short of 9 feet long, with its lovely lace appliqué created by the Royal School of Needlework.

Jewels: The Cartier Halo tiara, a 1936 piece on loan from Queen Elizabeth II, to whom it was given as an 18th birthday gift. Diamond leaf drop earrings by Robinson Pelham completed her look.

Shoes: Another McQueen confection, of duchesse satin (how appropriate!) and embroidered lace.

Beauty: Kate applied her own makeup, following several private lessons from London-based artist Arabella Preston. A strong brow, soft smoky eye and lady-like lip made for a radiant glow. Her hair was styled by James Pryce of the Richard Ward salon.
