Mariah Carey gave birth to twins Saturday morning, delivering what husband Nick Cannon called ‘the most incredible anniversary gift ever in life.’

The couple’s baby girl was born first, weighing 5 pounds, 3 ounces, and measuring 18 inches long, Carey rep Cindi Berger said. The baby boy was next, at 5 pounds, 6 ounces, and 19 inches. The diva delivered at an unspecified hospital in Los Angeles.

‘Congratulations to Mariah & Nick on the birth of #dembabies!!,’ read the announcement sent out via Carey’s Twitter page. ‘Born, April 30th at 12:07pm ET. Mommy, Daddy & #dembabies are all doing fine!’ (That’s 9:07 a.m. in L.A.)

After exuberantly thanking his wife on Twitter about noon, daddy Nick declared, ‘I won’t ever be able to top this!’

Turns out Cannon, 30 was a bit twitterpated at the hospital, Berger said, while Carey, 41, was chilled out, thinking it was another false alarm.

After driving Carey to the hospital in their Rolls-Royce Phantom, Cannon was so nervous he went to the wrong department at the hospital, finally being guided to the maternity ward by a nurse.

‘It was like right out of an ‘I Love Lucy’ skit,’ Berger said.

Well-wishes came Saturday on Twitter from the likes of Nicki Minaj and mom-to-be Alyssa Milano, among others.

To mark their third anniversary, Carey and Cannon planned to renew their wedding vows on Sunday, as they have done twice before. They were married April 30, 2008, in the Bahamas.

Turns out ‘dembabies’ don’t have names yet -- any ideas? Tell us in comments.
