Billy Crystal joins Twitter, promises Funny or Die project

Billy Crystal has played countless memorable characters — now he’s playing 140 of them.

The comic and frequent Academy Awards host has joined the Twitterverse, and his first tweet promises all we’d expect — snappy one-liners and self-promotion.

‘JD Salinger once told me, ‘If you want to keep in touch with your audience ... tweet.’ Here I am,’ he said, adding that he’s got a new ‘film’ coming to viral comedy site Funny or Die on Wednesday.

Plenty of pedestrian tweets are speculating on the mystery project (one random jokester suggested ‘Mr. Saturday Night Pt. 2’ was imminent), but regardless, the Ministry is proud to welcome Crystal to the wonderful world of social media.

We look forward to the ‘City Slickers’ legend volleying with @KimKardashian, TwitPics of his favorite fast food and some winking at @SteveMartinToGo.
