Kirstie Alley, George Lopez declare cease-fire; calm down teams Kirstie and George? [Poll]
Alley hoofed it Monday on the premiere of the 12th cycle of "Dancing With the Stars," prompting Lopez to call her a pig on his TBS show the following evening.
"She did a nice job, her little hooves tapping away. Before the show she went to the market, and then she had roast beef, and this is her going all the way home," he said just before showing a clip of a pig squealing.
That began the public feud between the once-chubby comedian and the former "Fat Actress," who has publicly struggled with weight issues for years. Lopez's monologue sparked outrage among various women's groups, and the 60-year-old actress finally acknowledged the jokes via Twitter on Thursday.
"Don't worry about George's comments...just remember what happens to the big bad, drunk woolf...falls in a boiling pot of vodka.Piggy laughs," she wrote.
In response, and instead of bringing it up on his Thursday night telecast, Lopez took to the micro-blogging site to say he was sorry. "I misjudged the joke. No malice was intended and I apologize to Kirstie," he tweeted.
But apparently that wasn't enough. Alley didn't waste time reaming out the comedian: "I don't consider 'I misjudged the joke' an apology," she tweeted. "sorta like a husband saying 'I accidentally misjudged putting my" -- well, let's just say she's talking about cheating. (As those who follow Kirstie's Twitter feed know, she's one salty lady.)
She then directed her rejection of his apology to his twitter handle. "@georgelopez I don't need or want ur apology...I want your kidney dude..on behalf of ur X and all the women uv insulted...give it back."
She was referring to the kidney that Ann Lopez, who filed for divorce in November, had donated to him in 2005. Yup, she got personal.
It was "poor judgment. As they say in my world of golf, 'Bad form on my part,'" Lopez said on "The Billy Bush Show" Friday morning.
He even invited Alley to be a guest on "Lopez Tonight" and blamed his Spanx for cutting off the circulation to his brain.
Perhaps that apology finally appeased Alley?
"take life as lightly as u can and then move on ...even u George ....u are forgiven.....:)...." she tweeted soon after.
And they all lived happily ever after. That is, until Alley stops by "Lopez Tonight."
