Super Bowl 2011: Lea Michele versus Christina Aguilera [poll]
This post has been corrected. Please see the note at the bottom.
We won't know who won the 2011 Super Bowl for a few hours — so until then, can we decide whether Lea Michele or Christina Aguilera won the pregame singing contest?
Wearing a cream-colored car-length coat and tan slacks, Michele knocked out "America the Beautiful," right before Aguilera took the field in a little black Dolce & Gabbana suit to rock (some of the words to) "The Star Spangled Banner."
Which diva did the better job, or was it a tie? No fair giving Aguilera an advantage just because she got the flyover as a finale.

Tony Bennett slams home 'God Bless America' at World Series Game 1
For the record, 4:24 p.m.: This post originally said Lea Michele sang "God Bless America"; the "Glee" star actually sang "America the Beautiful," and we sang it right along with her and still typed the other song title. Thanks to commenters @lynebg, @Sheilah and @Mini for flagging the gaffe. Those who'd like to hear "God Bless America" will have to settle for Tony Bennett's World Series version.

What was wrong with the original versions of both songs?
Lea's and Christina's arrogance was astounding. Thanks for nothing ladies.
I was watching with some of the US troops at one of their Superbowl parties. Modifying the tune of both songs was very disrespectful to the citizens of the USA. Adding to that the lyrics change via Christina. Although that might have been an accident on her part, which can be forgiven easily.
But the tune change? That was rude. I thought both these ladies had more class than what they exhibited at the game. All in the room were offended by their taking of artistic liberties on American music icons.
It's not ALL about you, Lea and Christina.

I'M SORRY BUT CHRISTINA AGUILARA SINGING THE NATIONAL ANTHEM WAS HORRIBLE NOT ONLY IN HER FLUBBING THE LYRICS BUT HER WARBLING THE THE WHOLE WAY THROUGH. WHY CAN'T THESE PEOPLE SING THE SONG THE WAY IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE SUNG AND NOT PUT THEIR OWN INTERPRETATIONS TO THE WAY THEY THINK IT SHOULD BE SUNG. I THINK SHE WAS A TOTAL DISGRACE.

Lea Michele was great. Christina Aguilera was horrible, and she didn't practice the lyrics! The Black Eyed Peas were a funny joke. Half time was comedy central. The Packers, Steelers, Fans, and Lea Michele made Super Bowl XLV!

Suzanne-I was not going to respond to your rant because I respect the men and women who serve our country but your personal attack on both these young ladies bothers me.
Firstly, yes Christina did screw up but I am pretty sure that was not her intention and it can happen so the personal attacks are unnecessary.
Second, Lea did a beautiful job on the song. You don't like the arrangement then rant at the super bowl pre game committee. They hired the chorus-which were military people-and provided the arrangement based on the chorus and time limitations. Lea just sang the song
Think before you open your mouth I am pretty sure neither singer was trying to make anything about them

It is just an Anthem, c'mon... why attacking a singer instead of trying to enjoy as much as u can of the game itself? I do not get Americans' way of thinking, really...

Who's the moron that said Christina is legend?? Are you retarded? BB King is a legend, Ray Charles is a legend, Ella Fitzgerald is a legend. She sang terribly. Lea Michele blew her doors off.

I personally think Christina did a great job! She did misplace a line, and her vocals went all over the place on another line. But this is probably my favourite performance of the anthem from her, I loved it. Lea Michele was good, but she can't be compared to Christina.

Lea Michele totally wins this one. Christina forgot the lyrics to the NATIONAL ANTHEM! Lea was flawless, sang the song like she supposed to and she remembered the words. Also to everyone that is saying that she lip synched, she didn't, unlike most professional singers Lea actually is good live because she was on broadway before glee and doesn't need someone to tune her voice so she hits all the notes, she actually hits them in real life.
