Spirit Awards: Mia Wasikowska and Josh Hutcherson, the kids from 'The Kids Are All Right' [Video]
When it comes to "The Kids Are All Right," most audiences have been focused on the performance of one of its leading actresses, Annette Bening. But what have the two young stars who play her children, 21-year-old Mia Wasikowska and 18-year-old Josh Hutcherson, been up to?
With a perma-grin planted on his face Saturday at the 2011 Film Independent Spirit Awards, Hutcherson said he felt lucky to have been taken under the wings of A-list actors like his costars Bening, Julianne Moore and Mark Ruffalo. But he was most excited about heading to the Academy Awards on Sunday for the first time.
"I mean, going to the Oscars is like an actor's dream, and the fact that I'm 18 and I'm going to the Oscars is like, 'What? That's awesome.' I have a whole tuxedo planned out and everything," he gushed.
Wasikowska, who stars in next month's "Jane Eyre," said she felt proud that a low-budget film was being recognized by the academy.
"It's so great when the smaller films that always take a lot more effort to get together -- when they reach so many people, it's really cool," she said.
And when it comes to tomorrow's big showdown between Bening and Natalie Portman for best actress, Hutcherson, of course, has a clear favorite.
"Of course, I'm a little biased, but I'd have to say Annette," he said. "I think both of them are amazing actresses. I've idolized Natalie my entire life because she's a young actress who made the transition into an adult, so they're both very deserving."
