Pete Wentz didn't want to divorce Ashlee Simpson

Ashlee Simpson's soon-to-be-ex-husband, Pete Wentz, didn't want their marriage to end.

The couple filed for divorce Tuesday citing "irreconcilable differences," but sources are telling TMZ that Wentz, 31, was against the split and tried to talk his wife out of filing papers.

Sources have said that Simpson, 26, has wanted out of their nearly three-year marriage for a while. She and Wentz grew apart, they said, and she could no longer handle the rocker's "erratic behavior," so the singer-actress is now joining big sis Jessica Simpson in the young divorcees' club.

It's too bad -- we hoped this match made in black-eyeliner heaven was indelible.

Both Simpson's and Wentz's Twitter accounts had been aflutter with lovey-dovey tweets, and the two were recently spotted strolling in West Hollywood with their 2-year-old, Bronx, seemingly without an end-of-marriage care in the world.

Over Super Bowl weekend, however, Wentz was partying it up in Dallas, while Simpson was back in L.A. with their son, of whom she is seeking physical custody. A sign of things to come? Stay tuned...

I just wanted to sa that Ashlee Simpson probably filed for a divorce from Pete Wentz (former bassist from the band, Fall Out Boy) is because she has finally realized that she doesn't deserve to be married to him at all. I'm so glad that they're finally getting a divorce because I really think that Pete deserves someone a lot better than who he married. I really feel sorry for their son, Bronx because he has a mom who doesn't have any talent when it comes to acting and singing. Ashlee is planning to go back to the studio and record a Folk album, but Pete isn't going to help her with it because he probably can't stand her singing either and I don't blame him because of her lip-synching incident on Saturday Night Live back in 2004. She doesn't deserve to have any fans at all because she blamed her band for playing the wrong song, and that isn't what happened because they wer trying to save her from being humiliated. What really happened was that she had severe acid reflux and her dad told her that she had to use a backing track so that it would sound like she's really singing, but she wasn't. She is so pathetic. I don't like listening to her music at all because Pop music isn't the kind of music that I like listening to. The kind of music that I like listening to is Country and Rock. Idon't find her physically attractive at all, and I never will because she looks like a plasic Barbie doll who had plastic surgery on her nose. End of story.
