Oscars: The little gold men arrive backstage, with a bodyguard
Forty-five little gold men have arrived backstage at the Academy Awards, delivered by white-gloved attendants around 4 p.m. Sunday on two AV carts.
One security officer (an off-duty LAPD officer) is assigned specifically to guard the Oscar statues for the duration of the show, and only designated handlers are allowed to touch them.
