Katie Holmes’ Jackie O will indeed be coming to U.S. television: After being bounced by the History channel, ‘The Kennedys’ has found a new home on the ReelzChannel, with an April 3 premiere date.

‘The Kennedys’ will be the first original scripted show for the independent, family-owned ReelzChannel, which airs mostly movies and syndicated TV shows.

The fate of the eight-part miniseries -- which stars Greg Kinnear as JFK and Holmes as Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and until this week didn’t have an air date -- was in limbo for three weeks after History decided ‘The Kennedys’’ dramatic interpretation of events didn’t fit its brand.

Kennedy family members including Maria Shriver and Carolyn Kennedy were thought to have lobbied History to drop the miniseries, saying the story about multiple generations of the political family was overdramatic and critical.

‘One of the benefits of being an independent network is that you can be an independent voice and you don’t have to worry about corporate pressure or political pressure,’ Stan Hubbard, chief exec of ReelzChannel told the Hollywood Reporter. ‘This is a project that deserves to be seen.’
And it will be. The channel, available in 60 million homes, plans to launch a marketing campaign ASAP.
