Jennifer Aniston lists Beverly Hills home for $42 million
Looks like Jennifer Aniston is really making some life changes -- the actress is putting her passion-project Beverly Hills home on the market. And it ain't cheap.
Just a year after gushing to Architectural Digest about the major renovations she made to the property, Aniston has decided to offload it for an asking price of $42 million. She purchased the pad in 2006 for $13.5 million.
"My life needs to be simplified and clear out the clutter," she said in a recent interview.
"And along with that thought came, 'I should sell my house.' ... I had the realization that this is just too much for me. I'm not this person."
After the house's face lift, Aniston dubbed it "Ohana," a Hawaiian expression meaning extended family.
Designed by Stephen Shadley, the property features 14-foot entryways, a travertine bridge over a koi pond and a stunning Murano glass chandelier in the main hall.
Aniston indicated she'll be looking for a smaller space, possibly in New York City.
In other celebrity real estate news from our pals at Hot Property, Rose McGowan has put her Los Feliz home on the market for around $1.85 million, while Winona Ryder sold her Sunset Strip-area house for $3,725,000.

Wouldn't it be nice if she gave a significant portion of her gain to some of the less fortunate.

Wouldn't it be nice if she gave some of the profits to some worthywhile charities to benefit some of the less fortunate.

She should really leave things behind except her livelihood. This way she is not always on the eyes of everybody. I am sure she can make it in NY. Nobody looks better as one gets older except her. More power to her!

Hey Mike - what business is it of yours what she gives to charities? Jennifer has long been a supporter of several charitable causes, the most visible of which is probably St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. She donates a lot of money to charities she's been affiliated with for several years, but she does so quietly - which is really the only way to be truly charitable. Just because some celebs shout their donations from the mountaintops, doesn't mean that others who keep their acts private are any less charitable.
Besides, just because she's asking $42 million doesn't mean she'll get it - or that she believes she will get it. It's only good business sense to list higher than what you're willing to accept - otherwise you'll have no room for negotiating.

She gives to charities already. She just does not use it as a sales pitch, nor does she use kids. A long time ago, celebrity kids are shielded by their parents from photos. Nowadays, it is different. I wonder who started this?
BTW, she uses herself as sales item. So, WYSIWYG.
Also, as one gets older the jaw gets wider from exercise (eating). And, the face gets fatter as with the body if one does not exercise. The only way that the face stays the same is if it is nipped and tucked. So, there you go -- she never had botox on her face.

How in the world does anyone know what she donates to charity? There has never been much talk about her involvement in charity at all. That usually means she's not much involved. It's pretty hard to hide real involvement in a charity or cause when your name is that big and you are recognizable. It does get out.
Aniston's involvement with St Jude's was pormpted by a request by Marlo Thomas after she played her mother on Friends. It is believed to be limited to very high profile PSAs for the hospital. Aniston is not shy about publicizing her donations or involvement with charities or events, e.g., Haiti, Oprah's TV show, St Jude's, so why all of a sudden is there some baseless assumption that she does all this charity or gives all this money but she keeps it a secret. Balderdash. If she was heavily involved financially or otherwise, the public would know it.
This house is wildly inflated. Even a Hal Levitt renovation (it's not not even a faithful restore) does not get this kind of money. It may be worth $15 - 20 million in today's market. But that's it.

Who's the idiot who came up with the $42 million asking price? In this economy? She'll be lucky if she gets half that -- after it sits on the market for a year!

I don't know her, I never met her in person, I may be wrong but from what I see Aniston has a very interesting personality. Interesting in the language of the paparazzis and Hollywood means scandals, show-offs, shallow talk and everything that attracts attention. She is not one of this kind. She looks to me very much of a "lady" type something no so common in our days, and if she hasn't met the right person, well, welcome to the 21 Century relationships. Tell me how many have functional relationships who last? What Jennifer Aniston needs is a new outlook of Hollywood opportunities. She may needs to move from romantic comedies to something else. If I were her I would look at scripts with some deeper message, some historical theme, some classic epic something that will give her the opportunity to express her unquestionable talent and move her to another level of acting.
