Robert Pattinson replacing Colin Farrell in 'Cosmopolis'

Rpattz-new-movie-cosmopolis Robert Pattinson has a shiny new project to follow "Breaking Dawn": The young actor will replace Colin Farrell in David Cronenberg's "Cosmopolis," a futuristic action flick set in the banking world.

The leading role will see Pattinson -- recently tapped to be a presenter at the Golden Globe Awards -- playing a risk-taking trader who loses a major gamble on foreign currency. The flub makes him an assassination target and leads to an inevitable chase across New York, the Wrap reports.

Marion Cotillard will play Pattinson's wife, with actor Paul Giamatti nabbing a supporting role.

Pattinson is currently shooting the final chapters in "The Twilight Saga," which he'll break from next week to present at the Golden Globes.

Tell us -- are you pumped to see Pattinson get his action on?

Rob sure loves the older ladies.

Marion Cotillard is so out his league. Give us a break!!!!

Excited about this! Now I need to read the book!

Cronenberg knows what's he's doing. Both Marion and Rob are beautiful, charming and could have chemistry with a block of wood (and both have been called upon to do that very thing in other films). This is great news for everyone involved in the film, and for fans, too.

The cast sounds good to me, Cronenberg is a visionary director, and it looks like it's shaping up to be a very cool psychological thriller.

It sounds like an exciting project for Rob. Really looking forward to this. 2011 and 2012 are to be great years for Rob. He is taking challenging roles.

Exicted for Robert to get to work with David Cronenberg - and the rest of the cast. That's a nice break for him.

I cannot get over this casting decision. WHY?

my love you Robert Pattinson

I love that Rob is branching out into different roles when given the opportunity. I've become a fan this past yr. and really loved him in Remember Me and he has become an icon in Twilight even if some still want to hate on that, but the guy has awesome charisma and a raw, bad boy type of sexuality(even though he isn't an actual bad boy with the douche bag aspects of it) to him which gives him all kinds of possibilities and I'm looking forward to the films he has coming up. And a film with Cronenberg is a great step.

The age difference makes this "match" preposterous.

On the other hand, it'll be nice to see R.P. do something other than a vampire flick. I'll be interested to see how he does with different material.

I'm not familiar with Marion C. but I've seen photos of her and i appears she and RP will be a good match in this movie. I guess it remains to be seen, but it's good to hear RP will be branching out in different roles. He's a very talented actor so I'm excited to see him in this type of film.

Rob is very well read, and has spoken of movies and books that make it not surprising he'd be able to embrace this character. My guess is he had lot of insight and ideas about how to bring this character to life that convinced the director. Cronenberg's been working on this for a while and wrote the screenplay. He's not going to mess around. He wouldn't cast Rob if he wasn't confident in him. This is a tested and successful director. And re: Rob's female co-star being too old? Watch WFE in April. Reese is 10 years his senior. Watch Bel Ami later this year. He'll bed a 20 yr old, 30 yr. old, 40 yr. old and 50 year old. He'll figure out how to make it work with Marion. ;)

Thank you, Brenda! A voice of reason. Please, people, we are talking about a young actor; I don't know why all the pessimism! He is good and will only get better!

Is it me or are you guys thinking that he always play with older co-star? Except for Kristen.

Robert Pattinson can't even run they had to build a special treadmill for him so it would look like he was running, how in the world can you see this guy playing this part. He's going to ruin it they should of given it to Tom Sturridge at least he could be believable.

ROb,u r fabulous 2 do some diffrent stuff other than vampire . i just wanna wish u a lots of gd luck.!!!!!!!!stay tuned with twilight too .
