Snooki Polizzi's New Year's Eve ball drop booted to Jersey
Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, she of "Jersey Shore" and disorderly-on-the-beach fame, will be shoved into a ball and dropped at the stroke of midnight in New Jersey, not New York's Times Square, as MTV had originally planned.
Seems begging forgiveness wasn't going to work -- seems you have to ask permission, and when the network did, Snooki was kicked out, a source told PopEater.
"At midnight, the crowd and the media will be watching Mayor Bloomberg, Dick Clark and the official ball drop, not a cast member of the 'Jersey Shore,'" the insider said.
"We love our Times Square home, and while we're disappointed there won't be a Snooki ball-drop there, she cannot be denied!" MTV said in a statement. "So we're taking a road trip to the place where it all began, Seaside Heights, and droppin' it all there."

I like the idea of putting Snooki in a ball but do they have to let her out. Or can they drop the ball really fast. That would be much better TV.

umm, is she that important?
WHY HER??
MTV is stupid to even think she could be in the ball drop in times square,
she doesn't deserve that , beside why is the cast of jersey shore even considered as "celebrities?"

Same reason vapid self-centered trash such as Seinfield and Curb Your Enthusiasm are. The entertainment industry is run by airheads who think LA and NY are the two poles of the universe, and that the rest of the masses just live for all things NooYorkie and LaLa. So it's not much of a leap from a Snorkie to a Lady YaYa. That's why I refuse to watch nutwork TV.

Hopefully she'll be dropped 2 or 3 hundred miles off the coast of Seaside so we won't have to deal with the white trash anymore....

Angry Buzz Windrip:
Do you mean L.A and N.Y aren't the two poles of the universe? Crap.

"LA Airhead," I guess it depends on whether or not you substitute an "h" for the "p" on poles. ;-)
Nah, I don't really mean that. I liked both NY and LA when I lived there, and NY is a great place to be from. We are just both better off without each other. Present company excluded, your sense of humor kind of flags you as so not an airhead...
If I have to choose between LA and NY for location-based entertainment, it's easy. Boston wins every time.

I've never seen Jersey Shore or any of its denizens and have no plans to do so, but apparently anything Snooki does is "news". She's "news." Anybody who generates headlines is fodder for the tabs and these blogs -- and ratings for the show -- and all of it means money. It is unclear to me if Snooki herself is behind her shenanigans (I doubt it because she doesn't appear to be that bright) or if somebody else is engineering it, but all they care about is that it works.
