Scarlett Johansson, Ryan Reynolds are getting a divorce

Hollywood power couple Scarlett Johannson and Ryan Reynolds are getting a divorce.

"After long and careful consideration on both our parts, we've decided to end our marriage. We entered our relationship with love, and it's with love and kindness we leave it," the couple said Tuesday in a joint statement.

"While privacy isn't expected, it's certainly appreciated."

A rumor of their rift came just before the official announcement, as a source told Us Weekly, "They spent a lot of time apart when they are working ... [Johansson] has been unhappy for a while."

The pair, married in September 2008, have notoriously been private about their relationship and rarely made appearances together for work or play. The couple purchased a $2.8-million home together roughly four months ago.

The Us report insists they are "being very civil about it."

Not the least bit surprised by this. If ScarJo is anything like her mother, Melanie, then she probably drove dude crazy. Also, she hated his motorcycle. That was the one thing that made him happy. And for those of you who have never met these two, they were a huge mismatch. She's pompous and he's really sweet but attention-needy. She should be with Ryan Gosling or Jesse Eisenberg. I am surprised, but you never know what goes on behind closed doors. Too much time spent apart can deprive the heart's growth in love. It is a shame that so many power couples end this way because they aren't able to spend the quality time us "normal" couples are able to spend with each other.
