Nate Berkus hospitalized for appendicitis; show tapings postponed

Nate-berkus-appendix Paging Dr. Oz -- one of Oprah's anointed ones has taken ill. Lifestyle whiz Nate Berkus was rushed to the hospital on Tuesday with a case of appendicitis.

"He was on the 'Today' show this morning, and he wasn't feeling well," a rep for "The Nate Berkus Show" told People. "He powered through and then went straight to the hospital after that and they learned he had appendicitis."

Berkus' handlers were aware of the illness, but the designer insisted on making his appearance. "I don't think people realized how ill he was," his rep said.

Physicians anticipate a quick recovery after Berkus, 39,  undergoes an appendectomy. His afternoon design show has postponed two tapings, but he's expected back at work next week.

Leave your well-wishes for Nate in the comments section below.

Hello Nate,
Sorry to hear about your surgery. My warmest wishes for a speedy recovery. We hope to see you soon. . . at the December 9th taping.

Love your show - especially about the garage and curb side findings. One of my favorite things to do.

Warmest wishes,
Mary Ann

Get Better soon!.....I just finished watching a very inspirational show, which I am sure is a repeat but it touched me just as much as if it had been the first time it was shown. I love your show and your design sense, as much as your humanity.

A very speedy recovery and Happy Holidays! Tove

Dear Nate,
Wish you well, make a quick recovery, you have a great personality.

Gloria

best wishes love your work!!!

Hi Nate,

We never met but, I am praying for you. Please get well soon. May God Bless you!

Hope you feel better soon.... :)

Hope surgery went well as I am sure it has happened by now. Life hands us those pot-holes once in awhile to just slow us down. Your show is the very best show on the air and wouldn't miss it for the world. I look forward to each day discovering a new idea or a better idea for decorating. I love that you show us how to make over some free or cheap piece of furniture. I love it when you practically dumpster dive. When you crawl out from under all the flowers, candy and well wishes, we all will be looking forward to your return. From Illinois with love.

Dear Nate:

Wishing you a speedy recovery. I admire you and your show. Besides being a great designer, you are a very compassionate person. Keep up the good work and looking forward to seeing more of your shows. Used a photography tip at a recent wedding and the pictures turned out great! Thanks.

Hi Nate, I watch your show every day, love it. I am wishing you a very speedy recovery. Can't wait til you are back. You are such a wonderful person and it comes across on the TV. Love from Michigan. Margaret

Nate, Please rest and take care of yourself.Your show is great,as are you,but it's not worth risking your health for.Television can be a demanding mistress (master?),as you are definitely finding out.Take all the time you need to really get yourself well. Two watchwords come to mind, both inspired by your health situation: for you, balance; for your audience, patience . Be good to yourself, dear friend who I haven't met yet.May God bless you always. Ron Labieniec

Hey Nate? Who needs an appendix anyway?! (Feel better soon.)

Nate,
I am sure that by now you are on your way to better health.
I have been following your work for years. In fact, years ago I had this dream of hiring you to help me with my apartment. At that time, I certainly had no idea of just how much it costs to renovate an apartment. I am currently in the process of redoing my Brooklyn Heights apartment. When I say that the cost is high, I am not kidding. I am a retired NYC teacher. This is the first time that I have really decorated my home. I don't want to mess this up. I am almost up to the paint job. I need your help. I can't decide what color to paint the major part of my place(other than the bedrooms). My bathroom is going to be all white with a beautiful lustella of slate. My den is red and will stay red. ( I love this room more than anything.) I am putting up a super graphic on one wall in my bedroom and most likely will have the other walls in some silver color. That leaves the rest. My kitchen unit, is cherry and goes from the entrance to the kitchen, all the way to the end of the room. There will be black quartz on the top. The wood cabinets will continue under the 5 windows, giving me so need storage and dispay space. One wall of the kitchen is open into the living room. The floor will be covered with a dark beautiful hard wood that will make everything POP. (my new favorite word)
HELP! this is where I need you.
I wrote to your show a few week ago and someone called to invite me to your show for the following day. While I would love to come, right now I NEED YOU. Now that you are living in NY, it would be so easy to hop on the train to come to the Heights. Since you live on the West side, I could drive up to get you.
This message does NOT have to be posted on your blog. In fact, I would prefer that it not be posted.I am just trying to get my message to you.
I hope to hear from you soon.
Most sincerely,
Mona Bregman
