'DWTS' champ Jennifer Grey recovering after surgery to fix ruptured disc
"Dancing With the Stars" champ Jennifer Grey had back surgery last week to repair the disc she injured Nov. 21, the first night of the show's two-night finale.
"I'm still recovering at home," the 50-year-old actress told People. "I have to rest a bit more, but I feel great –- completely pain free."
Grey felt some pain in her lower back after dancing that Monday, and by the morning she "could not move" and was in tears, with pain shooting down her leg, said Dr. Robert S. Bray Jr., who performed the surgery in Marina del Rey.
"I really wanted to leave it all on the floor last night," Grey said on the last show. "Unfortunately, I left a little piece of my spine on the floor. I ruptured my disc."
Steroid treatment allowed the actress to dance with partner Derek Hough on the final show, after her doctor assured her it was safe for her to proceed.
Bray said he removed a "huge fragment" during the surgery.
Ouch.
