Elton John welcomes a baby with David Furnish -- in tradition with the family plan
This is an updated version of an earlier post. Please see the note below. Elton John David Furnish
Elton John and David Furnish are parents of a new baby boy, born on Christmas in California to a surrogate.
In a joint statement, the new parents told USMagazine.com that "Zachary is healthy and doing well" and said they are "overwhelmed with happiness and joy at this very special moment."
Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John weighed in at 7 pounds, 15 ounces. John, 63, and Furnish, 48, a couple for 17 years, have been in a civil partnership since 2005. The identity of the surrogate and details of the surrogacy are being kept private, the couple said.
John's song "Levon" was released in 1971, on his fourth album, "Madman Across the Water," which also included the classic "Tiny Dancer." Video of the pop star performing "Levon" for his 60th birthday is above; the original recording is embedded below.
For the record, 11: 20 a.m. Wednesday: An earlier version of this post gave John's age incorrectly as 62. The singer is 63. (But really, he doesn't look a day over 62, dontcha think?)

Congratulations Elton and David! I love the babies name...my son's name is Levon and he is a Marine in North Carolina. He struggled with his name in middle school but in High School he again appreciated it. I have always loved your song and My Levon truly is a "good man".

If Elton is the 'husband' of David, as reported in the press, shouldn't he be 'Dame', not 'Sir'? Why not? Enquiring minds want to know.

@RockinRobert -- Christie D'Zurilla here from MOG. Elton John and David Furnish are not married, they're in a civil partnership. Outlets reporting the "husband" thing are in error. (I know, 'cause I've made that mistake before.)

Thanks for posting me, and the correction/update Christie. My mistake.

@RockinRobert -- No problem! I was at lunch is why there was a delay. And yes, the husband/partner mistake is very common w/these two. Click thru to that Elton/Rush Limbaugh post to see me make it. :)

OMG is there nothing Elton John won't do to try to keep his name in the press since his music has been irrelevant for over a decade? He is nothing but a fame whore and I truly feel sorry for that kid.

I think you mean probably, and if you cannot spell that word then maybe you probably don't know what you are talking about. Elton John is very rich and has access to the best schools and can give his child a wonderful life. All a child really needs is love and attention which I believe he will receive plenty of from such a wonderful human. His child has a chance much better than any of you could offer a child.
