Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo are engaged

Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo are engaged, he confirmed Thursday on Twitter.

‘If anyone’s heard the rumors of my engagement, they are absolutely true! Vanessa and I couldn’t be happier,’ he wrote. ‘Thanks for all the love.’

Lachey reportedly popped the question ‘near a beach’ in California, a source told People. ‘We look forward to a wonderful future together,’ the couple said in a statement. Wonder if brother Drew Lachey, recently voted the best ever on ‘Dancing With the Stars,’ will help them with the first dance?

Lachey, 37, and Minnillo, 30, started dating in 2006. They split briefly in 2009, shortly after the beauty queen, actress and TV personality dropped a bunch of ‘marry me’ hints.

At least Minnillo knows better than most what she’s getting into -- Lachey’s four-year marriage to Jessica Simpson, which ended in June 2006, was famously documented on the MTV reality show ‘Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica.’
