So much for that Kardashian MasterCard -- sisters want out

Kim Kardashian and her sisters Khloe and Kourtney no longer want their images associated with a prepaid debit MasterCard they launched less than three weeks ago, according to a letter sent Monday by the Kardashians’ attorney Dennis A. Roach.

Why would the clan want to shed this deal faster than last season’s bandage dress? In a Black Friday warning to parents, Connecticut Atty. Gen. Richard Blumenthal said, ‘I am deeply disturbed by this card’s high fees combined with its appeal to financially unsophisticated young adults. In reality, no family can ‘keep up with the Kardashians’ using this card.’

He said the family ‘is marketing a dangerous financial fantasy,’ citing onerous fees and penalties and stating that his office would be seeking more details from the bank that issues the card.

‘The card is filled with gotcha fees and charges, such as $99.95 annual fees, $7.95 monthly fees (after the first year), ATM withdrawal fees, bill pay fees, loading fees -- and even charges for talking to a live operator at their service center and a card cancellation fee.’

Ouch. Though it does seem the thing really does teach kids about what it’s like to use a credit card.

In the letter posted by TMZ (and cc’d to mom Kris Jenner, which for some reason makes us smile), Kardashian attorney Roach states, ‘The Kardashians have worked extremely long and hard to create a positive public persona that appeals to everyone, particularly young adults. They have been successful in doing so because they are recognized as honest, ethical and fun-loving individuals who are kind and caring to others.

‘Unfortunately the negative spotlight turned on the Kardashians as a result of the Attorney General’s comments and actions threatens everything for which they have worked.’

Threatens everything for which they have worked? Um, OK. We certainly understand why they’d want out, but we also can’t help but remember a little fun-loving kindness bestowed upon the likes of, you know, sex-tape partner Ray J?
