Demi Lovato is not being treated for alcohol or drug issues, a spokeswoman for the young singer and actress repeated in a new statement issued Wednesday.

So we should forget any allegations that might be out there about wild behavior at a party last December?

“As we have said since she entered treatment last week, Demi decided to seek help for emotional and physical issues she has battled throughout her life,” Team Lovato said through several media outlets. “She has taken this step in order to get her life in order.”

Lovato’s show “Sonny With a Chance” might be in jeopardy too, a Disney rep told TMZ on Wednesday, saying the performer’s health came first, “and if we have to make other plans, we will.”

The party story -- sex, cocaine and booze have been alleged, though we’ll skip the details -- seems to have traveled from an apartment in Texas’ Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex area down a blind-item path starting in January that includes stops at blogs like Crazy Days and Nights, Gawker, BuzzFoto and HipsterRunoff. That last site has a post lamenting Lovato’s Dec. 29 tweet giving props to Neon Indian, a band in the “chillwave” maybe-genre, and giving a touch of hipster chic to the larger drama.

The guy alleged to have been Lovato’s party companion died July 25 in a tubing accident on the Brazos River after renting equipment at, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram tells us, a place called the Hillbilly Haven Campground. Lovato, who turned 18 in August, acknowledged the death days later on her now-defunct Twitter account, writing, “Can’t wait to see you again in heaven.... Texas isn’t the same without you... RIP Dave Osborn.”

A Texas student who says he was at the party in December has gone on the record in the Life & Style incarnation of the story -- which helpfully offers links to help “get the look” Lovato has in an accompanying picture. A pregnancy rumor started by a Utah radio station was quickly squashed. And Radar Online reports that a cellphone video from the night is being shopped around town, though not being previewed.

Something to think about: If such a video exists, Demi would have been underage when it was shot -- and we know what happened to Perez Hilton when an upskirt shot of minor Miley Cyrus went live on his Twitter account. These are the kinds of things that push reports of cutting and eating disorders into the “I’d rather go with that” category.

Since Lovato quit the Jonas Brothers tour last month “to seek medical treatment for emotional and physical issues she has dealt with for some time,” her representatives have been adamant about the treatment not being “rehab,” going so far as to contact “The View” in the middle of a segment to correct Whoopi Goldberg‘s characterization of the situation. Don’t blame anything that Joe Jonas breakup either, Gossip Cop cautions, while Wilmer Valderrama‘s rep says accounts of the actor dating Lovato are false.

Remember, Lovato is the Dallas native who says she wants to follow in the footsteps of class acts like Dakota Fanning and Kelly Clarkson, who was praised by Bill O’Reilly for her anti-bullying efforts, who got team-smooched by Mickey and Minnie Mouse at the August premiere of Disney’s “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam.”

Sigh.

As a palate cleanser, we’ll close this post by turning to more positive Demi Lovato news: She got a People’s Choice Award nomination Tuesday as favorite TV guest star for her turn on “Grey’s Anatomy,” while “Camp Rock 2” got a nod in the favorite family TV movie category. Congrats, kid.
