Ryan Gosling rates at Hollywood premiere of 'Blue Valentine'
The "Blue Valentine" audience at AFI Fest was treated not only to Oscar hopeful Ryan Gosling's presence Saturday night in Hollywood but also to the version of "Blue Valentine" currently branded with an NC-17 rating.
Gosling stars with Michelle Williams in the movie about a couple trying to hold together a crumbling marriage, and both are already the subject of Oscar buzz for their efforts.
Among those not too scandalized to make the scene at Grauman's Chinese Theatre: cast member Mike Vogel, Zach Braff, Thora Birch, Chris Cooper, Albert Brooks, Ron Perlman, Garry Shandling, Kyle Gallner, William Atherton, DJ Qualls of "All About Steve" and "Memphis Beat," Dane DeHaan of "In Treatment" and "The Bachelor" Jake Pavelka.
Also spotted at the after party: Ben McKenzie, Joel Moore, Kay Panabaker and Sara Paxton. Click the shot of Birch and her brother at left to launch a gallery of pictures from the screening.
The Weinstein Co. is currently appealing the MPAA rating, hoping it'll be changed to an R without cuts being made to the film. If the NC-17 sticks — Deadline reports the scene in question takes place
Williams missed the L.A. premiere; she's on location in London filming "My Week With Marilyn."
"Blue Valentine," which had its world premiere at the Sundance International Film Festival in January, will open in limited release in U.S. theaters Dec. 31.
AFI Fest 2010 runs through Thursday night.
