PREACH IT! In which Zach Galifianakis does our Mel Gibson preaching for us

Zach Galifianakis in The Hangover If we weren't Zach Galifianakis fans before, we sure are now.

For those of you who use the Internet only for chain letters and kitten videos, let us fill you in: Mel Gibson was supposed to be tapped for a comeback cameo in the upcoming sequel to "The Hangover." Director Todd Phillips had selected Gibson to play a tattoo artist living in Bangkok. Everything was set.

Until the rest of the production — the people who don't breathe the rarified air reserved for producers and directors — found out about the decision and pointed out the obvious. Which is that Gibson is kind of a bigoted, misogynistic vole of a human being who, maybe, should be in someone else's movie.

Now we hear that Gibson is being replaced with Liam Neeson. There's also a good indication of who led the vanguard against Gibson. And the clue comes via a certain star’s interview in a comedy podcast.

"I'm in a deep protest right now with a movie I'm working on, up in arms about something," Galifianakis said during a recent edition of Scott Aukerman’s Comedy Death-Ray. But I can't get the guys to [listen] ... I'm not making any leeway.

"It has something to do with a movie I'm working on, yeah. I'll tell you about it later. It's very frustrating."

That frustration apparently didn't last long. Phillips has since put out a statement confirming that he probably should have listened to his worker bees a little sooner, and now Gibson will have to find some other place to make his comeback.

Maybe Jodie Foster can find Gibson some additional work.

The sheer cruelty towards Mel by people who don't even know him, shows that there's more than just his unacceptable behavior. Or Maybe perhaps Catholics are kinder people! So Merry Christmas to all and lets ask all walk off work if don't don't give us our Catholic holidays off.

Well, Mr. Zach just tanked the movie. What a bunch of hypocrites. They will have Tyson, a convicted rapist, and that is ok, but a guy who was betrayed and in the middle of a personal break-up is not ok. We judge him because of words, when most of these typical movie groopie actors, like Zach probably wouldn't make it far if their conversations were taped. Pathetic. I guess it must be jealously, because scandal in Hollywood is what all of these folks are about. After the scandal, the big powerful interview worth millions, right. No one, including poor Liam Neeson could muster up the same kind of talent that Gibson has and you all must know it or you wouldn't have fought against him so hard. By the way 80% of America doesn't care what happens in Hollywood, we just like good actors and Gibson remains the best. Poor old Zach couldn't hold a candle to the Gibson brilliance. I'd say that was his main issue.

Zach may preach for you, but please don't say that he preaches for us. His stance would make a lot more sense if it weren't so hypocritical.

This Zach whatshisname, who is supposedly behind the 86'ing of Mel from Hangover 2 has probably done Mel a big favor. By him willing to do a cameo at scale for this movie, he was doing them a favor, which they repaid him by spitting back in his face. Mel...you owe the Hollywood machine and 98+% of it hypocrisy nothing.

On the other hand, I do think Liam Neeson is a fine actor. I have enjoyed his work in Rob Roy, Schindler's List, Nell, K-19, Michael Collins, and on and on and on. However, I think he should give the boot to these pack of trash associated with Hangover 2.

Most comments seem to be arguing: (i) Tyson is worse than Mel; (ii) Tyson shouldn't have been in the first movie; therefore (iii) Mel should be in this movie.

Can someone please explain how this makes any logical sense whatsoever? And all you Zach haters clearly haven't seen Between Two Ferns

The liberal element of Hollywood is getting increasingly detached from reality and embracing a soft, pandering racism that practices acceptance and forgiveness in light of dispicable acts for certain races, but not for others.

yeah the Tyson hypocrisy is gross..

I'm a big fan of Mel, a man who, like all of us, has made some mistakes. As a young Jewish guy from Nazareth once said, "Let him who is without sin cast the first stone."

I can't recall having seen anything with Zach in it, so I can't really speak to his character, or lack of it. I would, however, advise him to put down those stones.

Shame on all of you fools. Mel Gibson has helped more people than you can count. He doesn't brag about it, nor does he publicize it. So who are any of you to make any kind of a judgment unless you were there?

There are many more worse people in this world who have done much worse. I'm sure he's tired of being used. I personally want to thank him for the help he gave my son when he needed it.

THANK YOU MEL GIBSON FOR HELPING OTHERS IN THEIR TIME OF NEED AND MAY YOU FORGIVE THOSE WHO TURNED THEIR BACKS WHEN YOU NEEDED HELP.

One who KNOWS!!! TL's MOM!!!!

"....If we weren't Zach Galifianakis fans before, we sure are now" Huh?

Who is this loser? I've never even heard of him. He looks and sounds like a douche bag. He's taking a moral high road in regards to another actor? Everyone bashes Mel but all of Hollywood signs petitions in support of Roman Polanski and would be scrambling over themselves to work with this convicted child rapist.
Such a morally bankrupt industry run by greedy money grubbers.

truly sad, someone so privileged in life can screw up so bad, and now we should feel sorry for him/them, i don't get it, we feel so detached from the real people, people that fight for us our freedom, but no,. we are more fascinated by someone that can be so evil,....

So Zach is now our morality advocate? Give me a break! It was a cameo role for heavens sake!

I can't stand the hypocrites like Zach who make their living out of being the fat, revolting, farting, hairy, lump of a man but of course deep inside he is sensitive.

As a Jewish American I hate the pandering. You think we are all the same? Thanks for the heads up. I don't need to see this movie. Mel is a great actor. Zach is just a beard with lard.

Two words: Mike Tyson

That's great a buffoon like this guy is calling the shots. I never saw him in a movie that was good. Gross stupid and banal yes but not worth seeing twice. And he's a big star? No wonder the movie business is fudging the profits and slowly going broke.

The difference is that Mike Tyson paid for his crimes and has at least given the appearance of being contrite. Mel Gibson doesn't seem to have learned a damn thing.

mel. mel. mel. ha. he. ha.

So they will work with a convicted rapist (Mike Tyson) but not with a bigot -- shows what Hollywood thinks about women.

Zach is such a cutie! I love his pudgy tummy and his scruffy beeood!

HAHA!

Hangover, the movie, has a self righteous roster.

Ohh, the irony.

LOL. Zach One-note Unpronounceable last name vs. Mel Gibson? Mel, you're above this crap-fest of a movie. I'm glad I wasn't planning to watch it anyway.

Why is Hollywood turning me into a Mel Gibson supporter?

has mel gibson's self-created church gone bankrupt yet?

Steve McQueen, Sean Connery, Robert Micthum, Mickey Rourke, the list goes on & on of flawed icons who have been known for their controversial views and actions towards women. Let's lynch them all. Unthinking, pseudo-moralistic chest beaters make me want to puke. Shame on the media for not waiting till the case runs it's course in court, for lynching Mel on the basis of selective info and edited material. And shame on the people who suck it all up unquestioningly.

They think Mel needs this cameo to re-establish his career? Mel? The man who directed, produced and distributed his own film and made $500+ million doing it? The arrogance of this these cinematic midgets boggles the mind. One thing is for sure, they need this sequel more than Mel ever will.
