Charlie Sheen hospitalized after allegedly trashing a New York hotel room while drunk

Charlie Sheen was found naked and drunk in a trashed New York hotel room and taken to a hospital voluntarily early Tuesday morning after police were called, according to multiple reports. He was not placed under arrest.

People reports that the actor was found in this condition in a room at the Plaza Hotel, where the New York Post said tables and chairs had been tossed around the room and a chandelier had been damaged.

His rep, Stan Rosenfield, said Sheen would be out of the hospital Wednesday. A law enforcement official told the Associated Press that the actor was getting a psych evaluation.

The sitcom actor allegedly brought an unidentified woman back to the room with him and, when he noticed that his wallet and cellphone were missing, flew into a rage, according to the Post. TMZ sources report that the woman, who said she was drinking with Sheen before he allegedly lost it, locked herself in the bathroom out of fear, then called security. Police were summoned shortly after 2 a.m.

Ex-wife Denise Richards reportedly accompanied Sheen -- who police described to TMZ as "intoxicated,irrational" and "emotionally disturbed" -- to the hospital. He went voluntarily after reportedly being given a choice by police of a trip to the hospital or to jail, on a disorderly conduct charge.

Post sources said Sheen told cops he'd been "out partying." Sheen's rep, however, issued a statement Tuesday saying it was all "an adverse allergic reaction to some medication."

Sheen recently had worked a get-out-of-jail-free card from a Colorado court after pleading guilty to misdemeanor assault in connection with an allegedly rage-fueled domestic violence incident involving wife...

... Brooke Mueller last Christmas. Sheen was sentenced to 30 days in rehab, which he'd already done as a "preventative" measure -- and anger-managment counseling. He is eight days away from completing probation in the assault case, though Colorado authorities told TMZ that no further action would be pursued unless they believed a violation had taken place.

Sheen had a week off from filming "Two and a Half Men," so he was hanging around New York with ex-wife Denise Richards and their kids -- same hotel, not the same room -- while she did PR for her series "Blue Mountain State," TMZ said Monday.

A source close to the actor told TMZ that Sheen has been "a tortured soul for months."

Charlie Sheen is a loser. Yes, he's a drunk -- an alcoholic -- but he got that way because he's a loser. I'd suggest dropping his behind in a no-nonsense rehab program to dry out, but he'd just go back to the same behavior when he got out. This is where Lindsay Lohan is going to be in 15-20 years, if she lives that long.
