Hmmm. Charlie Sheen‘s ‘adverse allergic reaction’ to medication Tuesday is causing quite a reaction in general regarding details of his recent adventures in New York.

Though Sheen’s publicist said the actor was in the hospital because something mixed funny with his prescription medication, emerging reports appear to place that allergy firmly in hookers-and-blow territory. Which is where people usually head after going out on a Sunday to see ‘Mary Poppins’ with the kids and the ex-wife, right?

‘He’s back to his old tricks,’ a source told Radar Online. ‘He’s been partying and using cocaine. He’s been doing it for weeks.’

People described by TMZ as ‘bigwigs’ associated with ‘Two and a Half Men’ allegedly want to fly Sheen home to L.A. by private jet ASAP, though Sheen’s publicist said the actor would be in the hospital until Wednesday. A Radar source said Sheen’s headed back to rehab at Promises in Malibu, but a TMZ source said Charlie didn’t think he needed rehab and would simply be heading home.

A Warner Bros. spokesman -- they’re behind the show for which Sheen earns north of a million bucks an episode -- had no comment.

[Updated at 3:05 p.m.: Law enforcement sources tell TMZ that no evidence of drug use was found in Sheen’s hotel room.]

The website Kikster quoted a Plaza Hotel employee as saying packets of drugs -- believed to be cocaine -- had been found in Sheen’s room, according to the security report, and that the woman

who called for help was a prostitute. Sheen has admitted hiring prostitutes in the past. Sheen is alleged to have flipped out either because he couldn’t find his cellphone and wallet and thought she’d taken the items or because he didn’t want to share anything with his guest. Either way, police reportedly found him half-naked on the bed and the woman naked and screaming in the closet in the hotel’s Eloise Suite. Rates for the suite -- designed to channel ‘the ebullient spirit of the Plaza’s most famous ‘resident’ ’ -- start at $1,125 a night, according to the hotel’s website.

Now, we admit we never read the ‘Eloise’ series, but we’re willing to bet it does not include the titles ‘Eloise in Rehab’ or ‘Eloise Hires a Special Friend,’ and that the woman calling from the closet Tuesday morning was not the Plaza’s ‘Eloise Ambassador.’
