Some of Hollywood’s top actresses and power players make an impact beyond the box office -- and Natalie Portman, Jennifer Garner, Katie Holmes, Eva Mendes, Amy Adams, Diane Lane and Suzan Bymel are this year’s most distinguished.

The lot will be honored by Variety at its second Power of Women luncheon Sept. 30 at the swanky Beverly Hills Hotel.

“By honoring this incredible group of high-profile women who are leading the charge, we hope to inspire and empower everyone within our industry -- and throughout the world -- to get involved and give back,” Variety associate publisher Michelle Sobrino tells the Ministry in a statement.

Portman, generating Oscar buzz for her upcoming turn in “Black Swan,” makes the cut for her work with FINCA, a microfinance organization that provides business loans to low-income entrepreneurs. Garner is saluted for work with Save the Children, a multipronged charitable force for underprivileged kids.

No stranger to the stage, Holmes gets thumbs up for her part in the Dizzy Feet Foundation, which works to support and fund dance education in the U.S. and counts Nigel Lythgoe, Adam Shankman and Carrie Ann Inaba as collaborators.

Mendes will be recognized for her involvement with Art of Elysium, which encourages ...

... artists and actors to work with children battling mental conditions. New mom Adams gets kudos for her work with the Ghetto Film School, which develops young filmmaking talent. The lovely Lane is featured for her support of Heifer International, which gives livestock and training to poverty-stricken families around the globe. Bymel, a founding partner of talent company Management 360, is saluted for contributions to the Global Creative Forum.

Congrats to the generous gals. Expect a full dispatch from the Ministry from the luncheon later this month.
